First off, what a let down by AcuRite. This app provides less information, looks much worse, and charts are useless. You can not name individual sensors and no longer can share data with weather underground for free. The only option is to pay about $20 per year to save only a year of data and have access to weather underground. Charts do not scale anymore and are curved so much that increases cause the plotted line to appear to go backwards. It also no longer shows lightning distances or times, highs and lows, light interpretation, hours of light, or feels like temperature. It is more difficult to navigate as well. I am very disappointed in AcuRite, especially as a long term customer, as they gave a 2 week notice before forcing everyone to switch without any consideration for existing customers. I will no longer be recommending AcuRite to others and will be switching brands once my current set up stops working. We should not be forced to pay to access more than a months worth of data when we spend hundreds on the equipment and have no other option to view the data.
Needs some work

My 8 year old Iris station stopped sending - probably needed batteries - and since it is difficult to get to, I decided to go ahead and replace the system with the new Optimus. I appreciate the availability of the remote battery pack, will make things much easier in the future. The station seems fine, the display is much nicer, but the app isn’t ready for prime time. I agree with an earlier review that it doesn’t seem designed for the weather station enthusiast. To start off, with installation I ended up with 0.05 inches on the rain gauge; I was able to clear this on the display, but AcuRite tells me there is no way to reset the total in the app, so now my app and display don’t match. A small thing, but annoying if you follow the yearly totals. Probably could have avoided this by doing a reset of the display before setting up the app, but who knew? Since my interest is the weather station, I only have the one sensor, but every time I open the app, I have to select that sensor - extra step. Can’t the view default to the previous state? And things like highs and lows, tracked in the ole myAcurite, don’t seem available. And what is going on with the graphs? 48 hours seems to just show the previous 24. What is being graphed for temperature and humidity, the daily average? Not helpful. If not showing you separate curves for the highs and lows but just some average, don’t display the data as a continuous line. I could go on but you get the idea…. I think the hardware of the new system looks good, but they need to realize who their core market is and engineer the app toward those wants. I am sure it will improve with time.

I’ve been a loyal accurate customer for over 10 years and I’ve always enjoyed the plug-in play systems and easy to read app. I have also been submitting data to the weather underground for over 20 years. I’m actually a degreed meteorologist and I’ve always enjoyed using the Acurite weather stations for my home weather needs. That is until this new app came out. Finding data, highs and lows for the day, dewpoint, viewing charts… Nearly impossible. They are now paid features included if you want to upload your data to the weather underground! They would think that access to data from thousands of PWS’s would be a potential gold mine for them. Instead they’re trying to milk a few bucks out of everybody and add another subscription service. I am also visually impaired and the new app is very difficult to see (not 508 compliant). It was obviously written by some young programmer with eagle eyes that had no clue what any of the data represented. if they continue to move forward and shut down the current app I have no other recourse other than to leave the Acurite family and purchase another PWS.
AcuRite has failed us

This app looks like one of those rush jobs where the product owner ignored the foundation of the app in which is being sunset “My AcuRite”. While I’d never call the old app amazing, it was good. It was useful for monitoring multiple sensors. That’s why I invested in numerous sensors and the hubs. Yes, hubs because AcuRite sunset a previous version not long after I bought it. The fact adding sensors takes days for them to show up is asinine. The fact you can’t rename sensors is simply a justification that the PO of this app shouldn’t be in that role. Then the fact you have to click more than the old app to see data is more of a step backwards. Perhaps the goal is to lose customers and if that’s the case, give the PO a raise. Mission accomplished. All renaming of sensors. Fix the delayed sensor adding issue. Allow a favorite dashboard. Then maybe you can salvage your weather enthusiast customers. I can’t believe I just spent more money on your products. You have failed. Listen to your customers and fix it. A 1.9 rating on here isn’t winning or success.
