New in Version 2.9: All in Cockle Racing Per-leg splits. Every mark advance (automatic rounding or the Next button) now records a timestamped split — lap, mark, rounding side, and cumulative race time. Pressing Previous removes the last split so corrections don't leave phantom roundings. Splits are saved on the race result, appear in the Race Log under an expandable "Splits" row showing each leg's time, and — when your personal best on the same course also has splits — a red/green delta per mark so you can see exactly where you gained or lost. Splits are also included in the shared result text. GPS track recording. While the race clock runs, the phone records a breadcrumb (thinned to one point per ~8 m / 5 s, capped at ~6 hours, poor-accuracy fixes skipped). The live track draws in cyan on the Buoy Map during the race, and the finished track is saved to disk alongside the result. Each logged race with a track gets a "View Track" link opening a new map that replays your path over the buoys, with start/finish flags and your max speed in the footer. Buoy self-learning. When you round a mark, the boat's closest point of approach is logged as a survey sample for that buoy. The rounding distance is folded into the sample's accuracy figure, so a tight rounding contributes to the position average while a wide one is automatically excluded by your existing 15 m accuracy filter — the survey data can only get better, never worse. Speed over ground. Shown on the watch race screen next to distance and bearing (in cyan), on the phone's next-mark card, and pushed in the watch payload as a new optional field so older payloads still decode. Start line tools. During the countdown, the Start Timer screen now shows a card with distance to the first mark, current speed, and a live estimate: "At this speed: there 0:42 after the gun" (green) or "there 0:15 before the gun" in red as an over-early warning. The watch countdown screen now shows the distance to the first mark too

What's New in Version 2.8 Race Mode — now fully pocket-proof Your phone now keeps tracking GPS with the screen locked and the phone stowed in your pocket, so your Apple Watch receives live distance, bearing and rounding guidance for the whole race. The watch now runs a sailing session during races, keeping Morston front and centre on your wrist: raise your wrist and the race screen is right there, and haptic alerts fire even with your wrist down. (You'll be asked once for Health permission — no health data is read or saved.) Automatic buoy alerts New proximity alerts as you close on the next mark: a buzz at around 150 m, and a stronger one at around 60 m — on both phone and watch. The distance and bearing on the watch turn yellow as you approach and green at the mark, alongside the PORT/STARBOARD rounding instruction, so a glance tells you which side to leave the buoy. Stiffkey Cockle Club Racing Programme 2026 The full club racing and social calendar is now built into Race Mode — every race, regatta, flotilla sail and social from the Fitting Out Supper to the Laying Up Supper, with start times, high water times and tide heights. The next upcoming event is highlighted, past events are dimmed, and races and socials are marked separately so you can see the season at a glance. Small improvements My Boat now sits at the top of the Race page for quicker access.

What's New in version 2.7 — Cockle Race Mode This update brings Cockle Race Mode: everything you need to race in Blakeney Harbour, on your phone and on your wrist. No more scribbling the race course on pieces of paper, now your watch can tell you the course, heading and record your race for you. - GPS-surveyed yellow racing buoys. All 17 racing marks (P and 1–17) were surveyed on the water in Blakeney Harbour in July 2026, so distances and bearings are based on real positions, not the printed map. View them all on the Racing Buoy Map. - Race courses, chalk-board style. Enter a course exactly as the race officer writes it — "13P, 14S, 17S, 12P x2" — or tap it out on buoy-yellow buttons. Port and starboard roundings are colour-coded red and green throughout. Save your favourite courses for reuse. - 6-minute start timer. Warning-signal countdown with haptic alerts on your phone and watch at each milestone, and the option to sync to the gun mid-sequence. - Live race guidance on your phone and watch. Once you're racing, the app shows the next mark, which side to leave it, and a live compass with distance, bearing and a direction arrow to the buoy — all from your phone's GPS. Lap tracking and race timing are automatic. - Apple Watch support. The full race on your wrist: start countdown with haptic ticks, then the next buoy, rounding side, distance, bearing and direction arrow as you sail. Advance marks from the watch without touching your phone. - My Boat. Enter your Cockle's name, sail number and strake colour — choose from club colours or pick your own — and watch a live illustration of your boat update as you type. - Race Log & Club Results. Finished races are saved automatically with course, laps and time. Share results to Messages or WhatsApp, track personal bests, and publish times to the shared a Results board (via iCloud) to compare with other Cockle sailors. - Race Mode is a reference aid only — buoys move with tide, wind and maintenance, so always check the sailing instructions.

New in version 2.6: - Added a 'Morston Forecast'. A 10 day hourly forecast that references multiple weather platforms as well as the live data feeds, forecasts and historic data on the app, to create a highly accurate summary of the weather for next 10 days in Blakeney Pit.
