Hi jajnsnsjsnsn,Thank you for downloading Little Wings and leaving a review.When I started working on Little Wings, I wanted to build a game that I personally would enjoy opening after walking all day and also motivate me to get out and walk more. I've played a few idle games, and wanted to incorporate the best parts of it but also make sure I left out all the parts I did not like (like ads and forcing users to pay in order to make any progress).I am a solo developer; Little Wings and The Gnomestead Collective is a passion project for me that I work on outside of my full-time job. This is also my first time building a game. Since there aren't many games like Little Wings out there (where progress is measured by your steps), it's been a huge learning experience. I spent half a year just changing up the main gameplay of Little Wings before settling on the current one of spotting critters (seems so obvious now, but my oh my did I have to try a bunch of different mechanics before settling on this!).One of the parts I struggled immensely with was the artwork. I spent about a month learning to draw (first time using Procreate!) and also trying to create the artwork for Little Wings. However, I could never get it to feel high quality enough to feel like I personally wanted to play Little Wings. I wanted to hire an artist to do the artwork, but it is quite expensive to do so but it still remains the end goal. I decided to release Little Wings with the current artwork because:1) it can hopefully pay for all the new artwork quicker (the quality of art that I want Little Wings to have is expensive).2) I believe Little Wings can help people walk more as it currently is, which I think is a wonderful reason for it to exist.3) I wanted to validate that people like the game mechanic that I had built out before sinking even more money on it (artwork aside, there are other development & general costs).The reality of it is that free games usually struggle to break even unless you force users to watch hundreds of ads, which I absolutely did not want to do. I also never want the free experience to be so horrible that people feel like they have to pay just to play Little Wings.I've worked with a few artists already to see who would be able to create Little Wings art to the level of quality that I would like, and have settled on an artist whose artwork I really enjoy and think will be perfect for Little Wings! I'm currently working with her right now to slowly update the artwork, so users should start seeing these changes these next couple months.
