Your Intelligent Road Trip Companion
RestMap helps you find and compare restrooms, plan better stops, and stay with
your trip from the first search to the drive home.
RESTMAP ON CARPLAY - FREE
Follow turn-by-turn guidance on a compatible CarPlay display. Find nearby restrooms with Find Best, compare upcoming stops with Scout Ahead, and review planned breaks before you go.
RESTROOM IQ - FREE
RestRoom IQ turns six data sources into explainable quality grades from A+ to F
for 2M+ locations. See why a stop was recommended instead of relying on an
unexplained score.
Sources include:
- OpenStreetMap facility data
- Refuge Restrooms safety and inclusion data
- Apple place information
- RestMap ratings and reviews
- 600+ brand reliability profiles
- Open Charge Map charging data
FIND WHAT YOU NEED - FREE
- Quick Find for the nearest practical option

RESTMAP PREMIUM - OPTIONAL
Premium adds preparation and on-trip tools for travelers who want more certainty:
Trip Reports
Ask RestMap to review a saved plan and write a day-by-day report with timing,
stops, weather context, decision points, and a clear plan check. Review what will
be sent before creation, then keep the report in the app or share its PDF. Your
first Trip Report is included without a Premium purchase.
Offline Trip Packs
Save route guidance, planned stops, IQ scores, forecast and
daylight snapshots, sourced place facts, and a one-page glovebox card for one
trip. Saved guidance and content remain available when coverage drops. Live
traffic, live rerouting, changed hours, and forecast updates need a connection
and resume when coverage returns. Each Trip Pack saves selected content for one
trip.
Trip Library
Search saved and completed trips, revisit saved Trip Reports, and export
supported trips to GPX or Calendar.
Freshness-aware place details
Where sourced place details are available, RestMap shows when they were checked,
marks aging information, and withholds conflicted facts rather than presenting
them as certainty. Deep Inspect runs a deeper pass on a place you are
considering, with more sources and more fresh checks.
WORLDWIDE, WITH HONEST COVERAGE
RestMap works worldwide using best-available data. Its scoring and trip-planning
defaults are most extensively tuned for the United States, Canada, United
Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and France. Previously
loaded free-map data may remain available offline; coverage varies by area and
source.
PRIVACY WITH A CLEAR CHOICE
No account required. Precise location is used on your device for nearby results
and navigation; RestMap does not store it as a travel history on its servers.
Trip Reports are created only when you ask. Before sending reviewed
trip information - including opaque report stop/place IDs and approximate public-place stop locations - for AI
processing, RestMap shows the AI report data and the separate same-place Inspector
matching envelope, including which stop/place/name/type fields appear in both and
which additional exact fields stay with RestMap. No ads. No
cross-app tracking.
Everything that was free before RestMap Premium stays free.

more I cannot count how many times I have needed to find a restroom but as we all know, it is often a gamble. This app creates AI powered ratings when no one else has rated the location. I also LOVE that they do not collect any data from you and is SUPER private. It is also gamified with badges and games. I would HIGHLY recommend this app to any road tripper or just someone wanting to find nice clean restrooms wherever they go!

Unbelievably helpful app to use, especially when traveling. I appreciate reading the reviews to help me choose rest stops along our travel routes. Interactive and fun.

Helpful app to give me bathrooms. Has cool streaks and badges, and you can also navigate to restrooms. Only complaint is that some restrooms don’t actually exist, but still very good app. 5 STARS!

RestMap 3.5 - In the Car
RestMap comes to CarPlay. Follow turn-by-turn directions on your car's display and compare restroom stops along your route, with Restroom IQ grades where available.
Find Best and Scout Ahead ride along. Parked or in town, Find Best compares nearby restrooms. On the highway, Scout Ahead shows the stops coming up on your road so you can choose one for your trip.
Choose your destination. Review the planned breaks, skip or restore a stop, and Go. Saved trips keep their itinerary and refresh the route when you start.
The Dashboard and instrument cluster show your route where your car supports them, with Quick Find and Where to? one tap away.
Inspector adds amenity details from Google reviews and more official municipal sources, with dates and sources shown.
Get ready before you go with RestMap Premium: Trip Reports and Offline Trip Packs for the drive ahead. Your first Trip Report is free.

RestMap 3.4 - Effortless
Inspector now tells you whether a stop is a good option, leads with what to know before you go, and shows the evidence behind each finding. Premium members get the full pass in one tap.
Place details put the essentials first. Amenities, sources, and community notes are one tap away, and nothing was removed.
A calmer first minute. Onboarding asks who's traveling - solo, with kids, with a pet, needing quick access, safe spaces, or step-free access - and RestMap tunes its picks from the first search.
Smoother and steadier everywhere: faster launch, navigation that stays fluid through turns and reroutes, and honest offline states. When signal drops mid-trip, Find Best, Inspector, invites, and navigation say so instead of spinning.
One Get directions button on every screen, clearer trip days across time zones, and dozens of small refinements.

RestMap 3.3 - make the trip yours
Pet-Aware Trips starts with an explicit choice. Turn on Traveling with pets for more regular relief breaks while preserving any tighter cadence you selected. Stops show pet-area context only when a checked source supports it. Unknown evidence stays unknown.
Your Trip Plan now puts Add a stop near the top. Choose an exact place, review the detour, and RestMap replans the full route around it. Add several stops, remove one if plans change, and choose Fewer, Balanced, or Frequent breaks without dropping required meal, restroom, charging, fuel, accessibility, medical, or overnight needs.
Multi-day plans keep meals, practical breaks, and lodging easier to understand. Hotel searches carry the intended property or locality and the correct local stay dates. When RestMap has only a route anchor, it says lodging still needs to be chosen instead of presenting a placeholder as a confirmed hotel.
Trip Reports and offline Trip Packs stay honest after itinerary changes. Earlier versions remain viewable, but RestMap marks them as based on an earlier plan until you choose to refresh them.
Inspector can surface a separate Pet fit finding with its checked date and source context. With context you explicitly review, a Trip Report can add a trip-wide Pet plan with exact evidence gaps, practical fallback guidance, and packing reminders. Neither feature infers a pet, promises admission, or runs automatically because pet mode is on.
We also improved route previews, waypoint restoration, and the consistency of planned times across days and time zones.
3.3 Sep 1
RestMap 3.2 - road trips that remember where you are going
Trip Reports are now part of the plan, not a dead end. Add an interesting detour from a report, replace a stop, see exactly what changed, and refresh the report from the current route. Suggestions are rechecked against the live route so completed legs and stale detours stay out of the way.
Multi-day trips are more resilient. Your selected daily driving limit shapes day boundaries, added stops survive rerouting, skipped stops stay skipped, and a paused trip can continue after a night away or a cold launch. Saved plans reopen with their stops ready, and arrival clocks stay coherent across time zones.
Planned stops can show useful arrival context, including closing risk and typical crowding when reliable evidence supports it. The You tab can also surface a recent thanks receipt when another traveler finds your update helpful.
Inspector better reconciles researched hours with the place's open or closed status. We also hardened the road-trip games and polished larger-text layouts across Trip Reports and Place Detail.
3.2 Aug 24
RestMap 3.1 - steadier navigation and clearer restroom decisions
Navigation is smoother and more coherent through turns, reroutes, and rotation. Portrait and landscape layouts keep maneuvers, trip details, Scout Ahead, controls, and the visible route corridor in the right places.
Place Detail is easier to scan. RestRoom IQ, the Restroom brief, and Dashboard now hold together better with larger text, higher contrast, and both landscape orientations.
Planned stops now survive rerouting more reliably, while Scout keeps looking ahead along the updated route. Maneuvers, stop names, Live Activities, and the in-navigation stop surface are clearer on compact screens and with long street names.
Premium trip-planning filters are now available where you plan a trip. Inspector better understands a restroom inside a park or other larger place and reports more clearly when public-source research cannot be reconciled.
We also improved walking-trip battery behavior, route-preview backoff, and thermal protection for long drives.

RestMap 3.0 - plan it, pack it, keep it
This release introduces RestMap Premium, an optional road-trip upgrade. Everything that was free before stays free, including the restroom map, RestRoom IQ, Quick Find, Find Best, ratings, filters, and existing trip planning.
Trip Reports before you leave
• Ask RestMap to review a saved plan and write a day-by-day report with timing, stops, weather context, decision points, and an opinionated plan check
• Review exactly what will be sent before the report is created
• Read the saved report in the app or share its PDF
• Your first Trip Report is included without a Premium purchase
Trip Packs for dead zones
• Save a trip's route guidance, planned stops, IQ scores, forecast snapshot, daylight, sourced place facts, and a one-page glovebox card
• Saved guidance and content remain available when coverage drops
• Live traffic, live rerouting, changed hours, and forecast updates still need a connection and resume when coverage returns
One Trip Library
• Search saved and completed trips in one place
• Revisit saved Trip Reports
• Export supported trips to GPX or Calendar
Meet the Inspector
• Tap a place and AI researches its restroom for you, including hours, access, cleanliness, and family and accessibility signals from public sources
• Details show when they were checked and degrade visibly as they age; conflicted facts are withheld instead of presented as certainty
• A smart head start from public sources, not a guarantee
• Included free; Premium adds Deep Inspect with more fresh checks
RestMap works worldwide using best-available data. Its scoring and trip-planning defaults are most extensively tuned for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and France.

3.0 Aug 7
• Know why a restroom is rated the way it is. Tap a Restroom IQ score for a clear, plain-language explanation — what's driving the grade, where the data comes from, and what we're still unsure about — explained simply in Waddles' voice.
• More curated stops. RestMap Picks now covers 120 hand-checked highway rest stops across 29 states, with notes on family, pet, EV, and food amenities.
• Better "Find Best." More reliable suggestions when nearby options are sparse, smarter handling of open hours, and graceful fallbacks when directions are slow.
• Reliability & polish. Faster search, more accurate open-now info, smoother screen transitions, and a refreshed look for place previews.

v2.15 — smarter scores, search that remembers your chains, rate in a tap
This release makes the things RestMap already does smarter, fairer, and
steadier, and adds an optional rate-in-a-tap card after a visit.
Smarter, fairer quality scores
- Brand-new places now settle into a believable grade faster, instead of
swinging on a single rating
- Fairer scoring for family and inclusive restrooms, drawing on the caregiver
signals and Refuge Restrooms data we already credit by name
- Same IQ breakdown — you still see why a restroom was recommended; the numbers
are just better-calibrated
Search remembers the chains you pick
- Nearby search now floats the chains you tend to choose, the places you return
to, and the kinds of stops you pick at this time of day toward the top
- It personalizes the order of your local results — it does not change any
quality grade
- Private by design: this runs anonymously and entirely on your device. Nothing
leaves your phone
Rate in a tap, right from the map
- After you spend time at a place, a quick rating card lets you say how the
restroom was without opening menus
- Confirm a key amenity or two in the same tap or two
- Optional, dismissible, anonymous — no account, and you can still rate the
existing way any time
Steadier navigation
- The in-app navigator holds steadier through reroutes and when you rejoin your
route, so your next stop and voice guidance stay in sync
Under-the-hood reliability
- A broad reliability and polish pass across the app, widgets, and Lock Screen —
fewer edge-case glitches, sturdier behavior all around
Privacy
- No accounts, no tracking, no new identifiers
- Navigation runs on your device with Apple Maps routing data
- Personalized search is anonymous and on-device

v2.14 — RestMap in your pocket
Your navigator now follows you to the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
RestMap on your Lock Screen
- Live navigation right on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island: your next turn,
a live-counting ETA, and — the part only RestMap has — your next stop's
quality, open status, and detour cost at a glance
- Glance down mid-drive without unlocking, or keep RestMap going while you use
another app
- Walking somewhere close? The Island counts down your minutes to arrival —
lock the phone and it still guides you to the restroom
Scout Ahead, organized
- Upcoming stops are now grouped by category — rest stops & restrooms, food,
gas, charging, hotels — with a single best pick up top
- Your favorite chains float to the top of each section
- Jump straight to the kind of stop you need instead of scrolling past the rest
Smoother navigation
- Another pass on the in-app navigator: steadier turn arrows, a calmer follow
camera, and walking-mode refinements
Keep nearby data fresh
- Gentle one-tap confirms let you help keep nearby place details accurate — no
forms, no detours, and never when you're busy
- "Rate this place" prompts now wait until you've actually arrived
Privacy
- No new identifiers, no accounts, no tracking
- Navigation runs on your device with Apple Maps routing data
Thanks for using RestMap. Feedback welcome at flush.restmap@gmail.com

v2.13 — RestMap is your navigator now
Tap Navigate and RestMap guides you there — no more bouncing to another maps
app. This release rebuilds navigation from the ground up to earn that.
RestMap Navigation, built in
- Turn-by-turn guidance with a smooth follow camera, turn arrows drawn on the
road, and lane guidance at complex exits
- Driving or walking, picked automatically by distance — switch modes mid-trip
with one tap
- Walking directions that feel right on foot: a dotted walking path,
walking-scale distances, your heading from the compass when you stop to look
around, and an arrival that tells you which side of the street
- Honest off-route behavior: clear "Rerouting…" cues and a chevron that stays
truthful when you leave the route
- Prefer Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze? Choose your navigation app in
Settings — your existing choice is respected
Smarter road-trip stops
- Required stops now respect tight detour limits scaled by quality grade — and
when a remote corridor genuinely has nothing close, the stop is labeled
"Best Available" instead of pretending
- Lunch stops land at lunchtime
- The trip bar shows live ETAs, highway exits for upcoming stops ("Exit 92 ·
+3 min detour"), and on multi-day trips, "Day 1 of 3 · Reno tonight"
Small moments that feel like magic
- Quick Find now has your route ready the moment you tap Go
- When a place closes soon, RestMap tells you plainly: "Closes in 45 min ·
you arrive in 12"
- Arrive somewhere new after a long drive and Waddles may share a local fact
- Watch your route draw itself when a trip begins
Privacy
- No new identifiers, no accounts, no tracking
- Navigation runs entirely on your device with Apple Maps routing data
Thanks for using RestMap. Feedback welcome at flush.restmap@gmail.com

v2.12 — A more trustworthy core loop
We spent this release making the everyday basics rock-solid — faster, steadier,
and easier to read — instead of adding new buttons.
Reliable search
- Restroom search is steadier and quicker to settle, with fewer "search cooling
down" pauses when you reopen the app or move around
- Smarter caching means previously loaded places and ratings come back faster,
and more of your recent area stays available offline
- The map stays responsive while results refresh in the background
Cleaner map in busy places
- In dense city centers, the map now declutters crowded pins so the stops that
matter stand out instead of piling up
Quality
- RestRoom IQ scoring is calibrated against a regional quality baseline, so places
with little data yet start from a more realistic grade
- Caregiver-aware scoring stays fair when a venue has a confirmed family or
companion restroom
A fresh look
- New Waddles app icon — same duck, sharper on your home screen
Privacy
- No new identifiers
- Your saved Home stays on your device only — never synced or sent anywhere
- iCloud sync of your contributions remains per Apple ID, encrypted in transit
and at rest
Thanks for using RestMap. Feedback welcome at flush.restmap@gmail.com
