I downloaded Rosetta Sapphire because they changed it from the original app, and it was working fine for awhile, I had gotten my monthly subscription and started working on French. But one day my audio just suddenly stopped working, now I can’t complete anything because there is no audio being played. I’ve checked everything including my Bluetooth and my audio from my phone personally, to even updating my software and nothing has been fixed. Feeling incredibly disappointed.

While I like the idea for some of these features, the fact that this company has chosen to create a new independent product instead of updating the existing one doesn’t make sense unless they intend to betray the loyal, paying customers who purchased, in good faith, the lifetime subscription service which was purchased with the understanding that this product was going to be providing longstanding, quality language learning services. The creation of this product allows the company to legally dishonor that promise to lifetime service customers and demand they create a new account and PAY once again. If the company is willing to betray their loyalty customers in this way now, what is to stop them from doing it again to shortchange their customers. Better off with Duolingo, Pimsleur, and/or Busuu. They honor their commitments to their payed customers.

I downloaded this new Rosetta Stone app to try it out and seems like a refined version of what we had... So basically what should've been the next full version release of Rosetta Stone. By cutting it off (Making the app icon faded looking and adding the ‘Classic 2024’ to the app title no less!) they've essentially deprecated the app some of us paid a "lifetime" subscription for and continued development of their software under a new title so they can now charge the same users a monthly or annual fee if they want to continue receiving updates. An under-handed, and sadly common, practice used by developers to dupe purchasers or lifetime subscribers of their apps without breaking App Store terms because it is (technically) a completely different app... Even though it's really not.

I have a lifetime membership for what is now known as “classic” rosetta stone. I was disappointed to see this new product is a separate purchase but figured I’d give them the benefit of the doubt - if it’s really different I could understand the justification for a separate purchase. In myopinion, so far this product is not unique enough to justify it being a separate purchase. This all feels like features that could have been quality of life updates to the classic app.
