WhisperGuide: Audio City Tours
The city is full of stories.
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Now live in New York City, with thousands of stories ready to play. Other US cities work too: stories are created on your first tap, so allow a short wait.
The city is full of hidden stories. WhisperGuide turns New York into an audio storybook — immersive, narrated stories about the real places around you, playing right where you stand.
EXPLORE THE MAP
Open the map and see story markers near your location. Tap any spot — a landmark, a restaurant, a quiet corner — and listen to what happened there. As you walk, the map refreshes with new places. The further you wander, the more the city reveals.
TAKE A GUIDED WALKING TOUR
Pick a themed route and just walk. Stories play automatically as you approach each stop — hands-free, screen off, phone in your pocket, with ambient music between stops. No tour group, no schedule, your own pace.
SIX WAYS TO SEE THE CITY
- History — the events that shaped each block
- Architecture — the buildings and the minds behind them
- Food & Drink — the stories behind beloved local spots
- Nature — parks, gardens, and green refuges
- Local Life — the culture and character of each neighborhood
- Legends — mysteries, crimes, and tales you won't find on plaques
MADE FOR WALKING
WhisperGuide is walking-only by design. Every story is tied to a real place, written for the moment you're standing in front of it.
Stories are AI-generated and narrated with lifelike voices, in English, Spanish, and Chinese. WhisperGuide is a discovery companion, not an authoritative historical reference — we take accuracy seriously and label our content honestly.
Start free, then unlock unlimited stories with a day pass or subscription when you're ready for more.
Launched in New York City, where thousands of stories are ready to play instantly. The app also works in other US cities: there, stories are created the first time you tap a place, so expect a short wait of about 15–20 seconds for each new spot.
