I love the innovation of this app and it truly helps me to lock in! I use it on my Mac to study, and have a couple recommendations if they choose to formally expand FocusTown to computer download: (1): pop-out feature: Allows us to see our timer, character, and bg music on the bottom of our screen. At the moment, I can only minimize to a large rectangle, and can’t put it on another window on the “No Distractions” feature. (2): friend requests: send friend requests when we tap on another players character. (3): have a task list/ to-do list feature where we can complete items off our list(4): the background music/ sound effects aren’t that great. The cafe chatter can be loud (even at 1%) and isn’t “smooth”. Some people are louder than others and I can hear a child screaming in the back?? 😭Birds/nature/ waterfall sounds would be appreciated! (5): pause timers: Sometimes I would like to pause the timer to use the bathroom or get a snack without having to give up. (6): more customizable hair/ decorative items that we can purchase. I really like that I can work towards unlocking more study areas and clothes— it makes me more motivated to study! More items would be super cool!

This app helps a lot if you’re having trouble with focusing on schoolwork, locking in when studying, or just wanting to spend more time working on a project you’ve been putting off. It’s also very cute! You can choose which table you want to sit at, as well as click to learn about the goals other people may be working for! There are people studying from around the globe, so it’s very interesting! Characters are customizable and you also have the option to set your session to “Deep Focus Mode” which makes it so you can’t leave the app for more than 15 seconds or else your progress gets reset. NOT TO MENTION, this is all free and all the features I mentioned above come with the app, no extra purchases needed. So, if you’re looking for an app that will keep you working and stay on track, this app is one that I wholeheartedly encourage you to get! 🫶

This apps got super potential! It’s simple, but could use some tweaks. for one, whenever I’m studying on my phone or use it for whatever reason (notes, textbook is on there, app necessary for studying basically), the app will forget or shut off the app so when i finally come back and the timer finishes I don’t get my beans. Secondly, I wish there were more things to do within the app to help motivate the studying. Add more emotes, more clothes, just more something. Making a storyline that progresses the more you study unlocking levels or something with seasons would be a great way to keep people on your app. (like finch!) Then, for the social aspect I thought it would be awesome if the dev’s made an option to congratulate those who have finished studying within the room/server youre in! (or some sort of emote) I know the goal is to study, but again to keep people on the app it would be an awesome way to make people feel motivated to study. maybe not a full on chatroom, but opportunities to interact with the other players would be awesome. The biggest issue i have is the app restarting every few minutes I leave to use my phone for any purpose. Would appreciate more character customization as well.okay update: they added a chatroom and a cheer emote to peoples goals and study goals! which is nice. I would suggest a chatroom regulation. most people do is share what theyre working on, so i hope they can regulate the chatroom to breaktimes only as not to distract those who are working or not to distract those with weak will lol (like me and a few others i made friends with) presumably as the game gets more popular the more people will chat and the less study focused the app will be. also! i would love an “add friend” button on peoples little goal cards!

It feels like a gamble sometimes opening the app and trying to sit down to start the timer. Because one you get lucky and everything runs as intended. Or two, you get a black screen that never finishes loading so you have to exit and restart the app and hope. Or three, you sit down and you select your sound design but then turn it off only for it to still run. Or four, you want the app to run in background or let allow live activity but it crashes and you lose your place in the study. Also, adding people is incredibly tedious because you have to look up their full name but somehow—it doesn’t show up. Also inviting people to study is incredibly difficult cause it either works or doesn’t. And the only solution is to just join the room yourself first then invite. I still go on this app a lot because I believe in this app can become so much more like their creators intended but I think fixing these core issues is a must first before pursuing other ambitious aspects of this app.
