What's New in v1.4.2. Bug fixes and reliability improvements: Fixed a startup hang on macOS where the app would show a blank window for several seconds before becoming usable. This affected licensed users on Sequoia with M-series Macs. Fixed an empty home screen for users who had never configured a working directory — your patterns are now found automatically in your Documents folder. The app now recovers gracefully if your working directory has been deleted, moved, or disconnected (external drive, network share, etc.), instead of showing a blank grid. New Refresh button on the Font Browser's Local tab — tap it to pick up fonts you've installed while the app was already open, without needing to quit and relaunch. Fixed a bug where renaming a pattern with a capitalization-only change (e.g. "Rose" → "rose") could delete the file on iPad and macOS. The Delete and Rename confirmation dialogs are now protected against accidental double-taps — the destructive button is disabled while the operation is in flight, and the Delete button requires a brief moment before it becomes tappable. Folders on the home screen — organize your patterns into folders, navigate with the breadcrumb bar, and move files between folders with the Move button. Fixed the iPad home screen showing "No files found" even when patterns were present in your Documents folder. Fixed a display glitch where stitches appeared as a red emoji while moving a selection on iPad. Selection rotate and resize improvements: 45° rotation steps, free rotation on area selections, and resize handles that follow standard conventions.

v1.4.1 — Bug fixes • Fixed a bug where renaming a pattern to a different capitalization (e.g. "Pattern" → "pattern") could delete the file. Renames now happen safely in place, and trying to rename to a name that already exists now shows an error instead of silently overwriting another file. • Hardened the Delete confirmation dialog. The Delete button is now briefly disabled when the dialog appears, preventing a stray tap from triggering a deletion before you've seen the prompt. Delete and Rename buttons also stay disabled while the operation is in progress, so a quick double-tap can't fire the action twice.

Home page - Folders on the home page. Organize your patterns into folders. Tap New Folder to create one, tap a folder to open it, and use the breadcrumb at the top of the home screen to go back. Folders support rename and delete. Deleting a non-empty folder asks for confirmation and removes everything inside. - Move files into folders with the new Move to folder button on each file tile. The picker shows the full folder tree under your working directory. - The home grid no longer hides files that share a name with a file in another folder. Previously, two patterns named the same thing in different subfolders would collapse to one tile. - Fixed the iPad home page showing "No files found." when your Documents folder had patterns in it. The iOS Documents directory is now treated as the implicit home root, and folder navigation and breadcrumbs work on iPad. - Fixed selection-move on iOS rendering heart stitches as the red heart emoji while the selection was floating. The floating-selection layer now uses the same vector renderer as the rest of the canvas, so all symbols look identical to placed stitches across iOS, macOS, and Windows. - Fixed PNG and JPEG export so canvases export at the correct physical size. A 7 inch canvas at 14 mesh now exports as a 7 inch image. Previously the export dimensions were tied to the preview's zoom level and dialog size, so the same canvas could export at different sizes from one session to the next. - Image exports now embed accurate DPI metadata at roughly 300 DPI. The exact value is round(300/meshCount) times meshCount, so 14 mesh produces 294 DPI. PNG uses a pHYs chunk. JPEG uses the JFIF density fields. - Tip: when adding exported images to Word or Affinity, use Insert, Picture from File rather than copy and paste. The OS clipboard strips DPI metadata, so pasted images come in at the OS default of 96 DPI on Windows or 72 DPI on macOS and appear about 3 times larger than the canvas. Selection and rotation - Rotate buttons now step 45 degrees instead of 90 degrees. Tapping 8 times returns the selection to its starting orientation. Rotation accumulates against the original snapshot, and at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees the math collapses to a bit-exact integer permutation. The lossy 45, 135, 225, and 315 degree steps round each cell to the nearest grid position. - Free rotation, the white circle handle above the selection, now works on area selections. Previously it was only available for whole-layer selections. - Free rotation no longer compounds distortion across gestures. Each rotation re-renders from the original snapshot at the cumulative angle, so multiple rotations do not progressively degrade the image. The pivot point also stays pinned across gestures. - Rotating an area selection no longer destroys the underlying canvas. The rotated stitches are held as a floating selection until you commit by pressing Enter or tapping outside the floating bounds, preserving any stitches outside the selection rectangle that the rotation would otherwise overwrite. - Resizing a selection now keeps the selected stitches in sync with the new bounds. Previously the rectangle moved but the underlying selected stitches did not update, so later move, rotate, or delete operated on the original set. - Resize handles now follow standard conventions. Side handles at the top, bottom, left, and right midpoints resize one axis only. No more width changes when dragging the top handle. Corner handles are free-form by default. Hold Shift to constrain them to the original aspect ratio. This inverts the previous Shift modifier on corners. Selection and layers - Area selection now respects the active layer in multi-layer files. Marquee selection only grabs stitches on the active layer, matching Photoshop and other layered editors. Single-layer files are unaffected.
