Track recording, rebuilt for accuracy This release overhauls the recording pipeline end to end. A new motion-aware filter suppresses GPS jitter as you record — no more zig-zags at stoplights or wander while you're stopped — and when you save, the entire track is re-smoothed using the full recording for the cleanest possible line. Stopped recordings no longer accumulate phantom distance, max speed ignores single-fix glitches, and average moving speed is properly time-weighted. Honest about signal loss When GPS drops out — tunnels, airplane cabins, urban canyons — VeloGPS now says so instead of guessing. Charts show a gap rather than a fabricated flat line, the Live Activity switches to a clear SIGNAL LOST state, the map draws a dashed bridge across the outage, and GPX exports split the track at real outages so other apps don't invent impossible speeds. Better in the air Flight mode adds an altitude filter that rejects physically impossible single-sample spikes, and it no longer accepts coarse ground-level fixes during a GNSS outage at cruise — your flight tracks stay at altitude where they belong. Better on rails and in traffic Multipath "teleports" — the sideways jumps you see on trains and among tall buildings — are now detected and rejected before they reach your track. Steadier on long recordings A new memory guard suspends the map view before iOS can terminate the app mid-recording, so all-day tracks survive aggressive memory pressure. Background recording is also more robust, no longer tied to UI updates. Sharper GPX exports Trackpoint timestamps now carry fractional seconds, so exported tracks show correct point-to-point speeds in other mapping tools.

Redesigned map dashboard The map tab has a new frost-glass overlay at the bottom showing the readings you care about — coordinates, speed, and direction by default. Tap the chevron to expand to a five-cell view that adds altitude and pressure. The map stays fully interactive behind the overlay: pan, pinch, and tap annotations as usual. Adapts to portrait, landscape, dark mode, and every map style. Direction at a glance Course (where you're heading) and compass heading (where the phone is pointing) are now combined into a single Direction cell, with an arrow that flips between travel and compass as appropriate. Smarter follow mode The map releases follow mode the instant you pan or pinch, so it never fights you for the camera. Tap the tracking-mode button to re-center. Session (Last Hour) is now a true rolling window Session stats on the Info tab now reflect the actual last 60 minutes of activity, dropping older samples as new ones come in. Steadier on long days The map view unmounts when you switch tabs and the camera + tracking mode persist across launches, so coming back to the map is instant. Background recording is more reliable, and a memory sampler keeps long sessions running smoothly in the background. Plus fixes for a Live Activity tap crash, smoother dashboard expansion animation, and iPhone landscape routing.

Tracks auto-classify! Every recording is now auto-classified as cycling, hiking, running, walking, driving, or flying based on motion sensors while you record. The activity glyph appears in the track list, and on the save toast. Mixed activities are tagged "Mixed"; you can re-tag any track from its detail screen. Tracks recorded before 1.3.0 are tagged once, automatically, using a speed heuristic. Richer GPX exports Exported GPX files now include a metadata block (track name, recorded time, total distance, activity type) so the files round-trip cleanly into Strava, Garmin Connect, Caltopo, and other tools that read GPX metadata. Steady on long rides Map polylines for long recorded tracks are now decimated based on zoom level, so a multi-hour ride renders smoothly at every scale without losing detail when you zoom in. In-flight recording samples are bounded by reservoir sampling, so memory stays flat no matter how long the recording runs. Smoother recorded altitude Recorded altitude is now EMA-smoothed in the default fused mode, matching the on-screen reading. Elevation gain and the altitude chart on saved tracks line up with what you saw while recording. Plus minor reliability fixes across the Live Activity widget, activity-aware toast wording, and track save handling.

Smoother, steadier altitude A new barometric outlier filter rejects physically impossible pressure spikes (think: driving into a tunnel or a sudden cabin-pressure change), so elevation gain and the altitude chart stay clean on real-world rides and hikes. Auto-pause when you stop Track recording now pauses automatically when CoreMotion detects you're stationary — no more drift-padded distance or phantom elevation gain while you're at a viewpoint or stopped at a light. Resumes the moment you move again. More accurate elevation gain Fixed a unit bug in the Kalman filter and improved how tracks split when you switch between moving and stationary. Recorded tracks now match what your legs actually did. Reliable background recording Long recordings no longer drop points when the app is backgrounded. Fused altitude, distance, and elevation keep accumulating the whole ride. GPS Signal Quality: new Processing section The quality sheet now shows your current altitude source (fused baro+GPS, GPS-only, or flight mode) and live motion activity, so you can see exactly what the app is doing under the hood. Plus smaller fixes across flight mode reporting, map zoom stability, and accessibility.

Power Saver Mode New Power Saver option reduces battery consumption on long rides by lowering GPS update frequency and pausing sensors when stationary. GPX Export Share your recorded tracks as standard GPX files — tap the share button on any track detail screen. Smoother Charts Charts now use EMA smoothing for cleaner speed, altitude, and pressure lines. A new GPS Activity chart shows your location update frequency in real time. iPad Improvements Map state is no longer lost when switching sidebar tabs. Layout adapts correctly in split-screen and slide-over multitasking. Track Recording Record your GPS tracks with a single tap. Saved tracks appear as colored polylines on the map. Manage tracks in a dedicated tab — rename, choose from 10 colors, toggle visibility, or swipe to delete with undo.
