Biblions in another language are read with the right voice If a biblion is in Italian, English or any other language, Biblio now tells the screen reader which language it is, so the text is spoken with that language's pronunciation. This covers reading paragraphs, continuous reading, scanned documents and bookmark labels, including the label Biblio creates by recognising speech from a recording. Biblio works the language out on its own: from the tags of your own MP3 files, from the recognised text of PDFs and photographed pages, and from the metadata of e-books. When the file does not state it, the language stays empty and you can set it in the biblion's detail under Edit book information. The KTN collection can now be browsed by author and by narrator Browsing the collection — going through it without typing into the search field — lives in the library, where you add a biblion. So far it offered titles alphabetically, new biblions in the catalogue, and the sections the collection sorts itself by. Names have now been added: Authors and Narrators, letter by letter and with search. In a narrator's listing their own recordings are kept apart from other editions of the same work. For some names the collection currently offers nothing Biblio can open — Biblio says so, rather than leaving you on an empty screen. Browsing by genre and topic is not there yet; we want to build it on library authority records. Listening from the collection without downloading You can start an audio biblion from the KTN collection straight away, without waiting for the download. Downloading remains an equal choice next to it — for listening offline and for saving data. Both are in the biblion's detail and in the row's actions. Your sorting stays put If you set sorting by title, author or genre, it stays that way after you close and reopen the app. Also in this release The library is put together faster and the screen reader keeps its place while it happens: statistics are computed off the main thread and the list is rebuilt only when something has really changed. Your own videos in the library You can now add your own video to Biblio — an MP4, M4V or MOV file from Files or iCloud Drive. One file becomes one biblion; from a folder, each video becomes a biblion of its own. Biblio takes the cover from the first frame and the title and author from the file's metadata. Video plays right inside Biblio: controls, speed, skipping, contents and bookmarks with a still from the video. Biblio remembers where you stopped, and the sound keeps playing when the screen goes dark. Every video can have text as well. Biblio picks up subtitles stored next to the file (SRT, VTT) and subtitles inside the video itself; when there are none, the video can be transcribed, on your phone or on our server. The text then opens in the reader and you can search it. Go from the video to the text with Switch to text, and back with Resume the video — always at the spot you are in. Searching YouTube channels now starts when you tap Search Google grants the daily YouTube search allowance to the app as a whole, not to individual readers — it is shared by everyone using Biblio and cannot be bought. Until now Biblio searched as you typed, so a single half-written word took several bites out of that shared allowance and there might be none left for anyone else. Video channels are therefore searched once you confirm your query. In libraries, newspapers and podcasts Biblio keeps searching as you type, just as before.

Fixes reported by readers: • Titles the library keeps on two discs can be downloaded again. They used to end with a message that the catalogue released only some of the files. A biblion left undownloaded because of this only needs to be queued again. • Search in a large library is smooth again. With thousands of biblions, building the list held things up enough that the keyboard stopped responding. • One work can have several recordings — different year, publisher and narrator. You now see all of them, each with its publisher and year, so a screen reader can tell them apart. Search criteria gained an Editions option: all, latest, or by year. • For such a title the librarian asks which recording to download. • After downloading a new title, Biblio asks which series it belongs to. • The message shown while searching now says where it is searching.
