Boreal: Aurora Forecast
Northern & Southern Lights
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
An alert when the aurora is likely at your location. Tonight's chance, a two-night forecast with cloud cover, widgets and an Apple Watch app.
Never miss a night worth stepping outside for. Boreal watches the sky all aurora season and tells you when tonight is the night, for the northern lights and the southern lights alike.
Boreal is a paid app: after setup you need a Season Pass (yearly subscription), a 14-Day Pass or a 4-Day Pass, bought in the app, to use it.
Everything starts with a living 3D globe. Spin the Earth and see tonight as it really is: where the aurora is glowing, where the clouds are, where night has already fallen. Zoom in on your corner of the world and watch it change in real time.
WHAT YOU GET
• Tonight's chance at a glance, with an hour-by-hour outlook for when to head out
• An alert the moment the aurora is likely over your location, and, if you choose, one that breaks through Focus modes
• Know why tonight looks good, not just that it does: Kp, solar wind, clouds and darkness, in plain words
• Home Screen widgets and an Apple Watch app for a glance on the way out the door
• Ask Siri about tonight's chances, hands-free
NEVER MISS A NIGHT
From autumn's first dark evenings to spring's last storms, Boreal watches the sky so you don't have to. When the lights come out, you'll know, and you'll know where to look.
FOR LOCALS AND TRAVELERS ALIKE
Whether the aurora dances over your home or you've flown in for one unforgettable week, Boreal keeps it simple: what tonight's chance means, what you'll actually see, and when it's worth heading out.
WHEREVER YOU ARE
Fully hemisphere-aware: the southern lights get the same first-class treatment as the northern. And Boreal is honest about your location. It won't promise lights where they can't appear.
Look up.
