Rune brings document reading, read-aloud listening, and audio and video playback into one personal library. Read documents and web pages Open Markdown, HTML, PDF, text, and code files, browse folders, or visit web pages. Read articles with a focused layout, a table of contents, and saved reading positions. Adjust typography, spacing, margins, and paper colors, with an adaptive layout on iPad. Add highlights, underlines, and notes. Play recordings and videos Open existing audio and video files from Files or Rune. Save a local copy for offline playback, then seek, skip, change playback speed, and resume where you stopped. Videos have a dedicated fullscreen control. Picture in Picture and AirPlay availability depends on your device and system settings. Listen to your documents Use system speech or optional online speech services for a document, selected text, or a document playlist. Generate a complete M4A recording in advance, save it for offline listening, or export it. Playback of a saved recording does not make another speech API request. Some online speech services require your own API key. Edit and save Edit Markdown, text, code, and standalone HTML source files with syntax highlighting, search, undo, and save-conflict checks. Local first No Rune account is required. Documents, notes, playback positions, and saved media remain on your device. Cloud files may need to download before opening. Browsing websites and using online speech connects to the services you choose.
