This update fixes a big one for interval work: if you left a programmed interval piece during its final rest instead of waiting out the clock, that last interval used to disappear from your workout, your totals, and your Concept2 upload. It's now recorded correctly. BikeErg Leg Balance is working again after a Bluetooth regression, and the onboarding welcome screen no longer cuts off text at larger accessibility sizes. You can now try RowIQ without creating an account, thanks to a restored "Skip for now" option during setup. Also new: a progress bar toward your goal 2K in your Erg Engine report, a redesigned Strava share card with smarter activity titles, tap-to-compare stroke cards in your dashboard Recap, and a waitlist so you can join a coach's club even when it's full. Coached athletes now get force curve scoring on every individual interval, so your coach can see the quality of each rep instead of just the piece as a whole. Live sessions also run smoother, with less lag during and after a workout.
1.18.2 1d ago
This release is mostly about your numbers being right. The final interval no
longer goes missing when you leave during the last programmed rest, debriefs
now rebuild interval tables that were cut short mid-workout, Apple Health
imports no longer create duplicate workouts, and Concept2 uploads log the true
workout duration. Your 2K goal is editable any time from Settings → Records &
Stats instead of being locked in at onboarding, with a progress bar on the Erg
Engine showing how close you are. BikeErg leg balance reports correctly again,
you can skip account creation and explore the app first, and there are smaller
fixes across the dashboard, onboarding, and photo import.
1.18.1 Jul 26
This is a big one.
• Real-time race stats — see your split, power, and position against teammates live, updating every second.
• RowIQ Fuel integration — your meal log now syncs straight to your profile, so you can see fueling next to training load.
• Stroke-video coaching — get fault-to-drill feedback calibrated to your own stroke.
• Redesigned workout debrief — a cleaner, graph-first summary, plus a shareable branded stat card for Strava and Instagram.
• Cross-training sync — Garmin and Polar workouts now import automatically via Apple Health.
• Fixed: older PM5 monitors (pre-2016 firmware) now show a clear compatibility warning instead of silently failing to connect.
• Dozens of smaller fixes and polish across History, Plans, and Live.
1.18 Jul 22
This update focuses on speed and accuracy across the app. Scrolling through your dashboard, history, and plans is noticeably smoother. During interval workouts, the live screen now always shows the correct target for the interval you're rowing — no more stale numbers when switching between time and distance pieces. We also fixed a couple of debrief issues where multi-interval workouts could show the wrong number of splits or a slightly off Stroke Trends chart, and cleaned up a bug that made older workouts occasionally appear at the top of your history as if they happened today.
1.17.4 Jul 10
Workout of the Day — a fresh session ready every time you open the app
• Virtual Coxswain — spoken split and pace calls while you row
• Workout presets — save your go-to sessions and load them in one tap
• Daily streak — keep your training honest, day after day
• Live technique feedback — real-time force curve and an optimal-stroke tracker
• A smarter AI coach — deeper context and proactive tips
1.17.3 Jul 7
Your dashboard now shows your stroke, not just your splits. The Today's Workout card carries a force-curve strip from your last RowErg piece: your average curve laid over the optimal shape, plus how closely they match, where your power peaks through the drive, and your average stroke length. It's the same force-curve read you get in your debrief, now waiting the moment you open the app. We also tidied up the card itself with clearer distance, interval, and target readouts, a quick toggle between your plan's workouts, and a one-tap shortcut to set your 2k PR. Coach team plans read in plain language too, with training phases like "Volume Build," "Race Prep," and "Taper" instead of code.

Massive improvements and bug fixes to interval tracking and rest timing
1.17.1 Jun 26
New: Erg Engine — your rowing technique, read frame by frame. Film 10–20 seconds of steady rowing from the side and RowIQ breaks down your stroke entirely on your phone — your video never leaves the device. You'll get a form score on every stroke, the one thing to fix next (early back, early arms, or a short finish), and a length split showing how much of each stroke comes from your legs, back, and arms. Set your height once and your stroke length reads in real centimetres. It's a technique coach for your erg, right on your Dashboard.
1.17 Jun 22
Your debrief now coaches your stroke.
RowIQ reads your force curve after every piece and tells you exactly what to work on, in real numbers instead of vague advice: where your power peaks, how long your drive is, how much force you're carrying through the finish (in Newtons), and how it lines up with your target at your stroke rate.
• Smarter, more specific drive feedback after every row, with the actual figures to chase
• It won't nag you for nailing your target. Match it and you'll hear it
• Clearer team invites: if your coach's team is out of seats, you'll know to ask your coach instead of re-checking the code
• Reliability and accuracy fixes under the hood
Keep pulling. Send us what you want next.
1.16.3 Jun 16
Sharper data, smoother pieces. Your live and debrief metrics are now precise to the tenth — stroke rate, splits, and interval averages — so what you see matches the monitor exactly. Heart-rate and work/rest tracking hold up through every interval, the force-curve breakdown gives cleaner technique feedback on each piece, and RowIQ now warns you about outdated PM5 firmware so your connection stays rock-solid. Coaches can overlay athletes' force curves side by side to compare technique. We also fixed the "Unlock the full debrief" button and tightened stability across the app — less time on setup, more time pulling.
1.16.2 Jun 10
The biggest RowIQ update yet:
• Message your coach in-app, and share workouts right into the chat
• Live Activity — see your split on the Lock Screen & Dynamic Island
• Share a branded workout card — splits, rate, HR, and force curve in one image
• Sharper metrics — splits & stroke rate to the tenth
• Find any erg — scan the whole boathouse and tap to switch
• Keyboard-free workout builder with smooth number wheels
• More accurate interval workouts, reliable background recording & HR, faster launch, and hundreds of fixes
1.16.1 Jun 9
-Added Projected Stroke Rate is now a feature you can add to the modular cards while you workout. No more guessing if you are over rate on pieces.
-Added Force curve accuracy score per interval. See how your force curve technique changes throughout a workout
-Improved workout stroke logging when RowIQ is not open
-Improved rest / work interval recognition.
-Fixed HR monitor Force curve glitch. When an athlete connected a HR monitor the force curve would not populate correctly sometimes.
1.16 Jun 7
-Splits, your way. Break any piece into as many even intervals as you like with a quick stepper. Interval workouts still show your true per-rep breakdown.
-Sharper force curves. More accurate force analysis across your whole row, now feeding a brand-new per-interval force breakdown your coach can see.
-Refreshed share card. A cleaner workout card with your force curve built right in, ready to post.
-Roster control for coaches. Remove an athlete from your team in a tap.
-Smoother feedback throughout. Clear confirmations when an action goes through, and a heads-up when something needs another try.
1.15.5 Jun 6
Race your friends in real time. Head-to-head sessions now run a true side-by-side from the first stroke to the finish, with a live leaderboard timed down to the sub-second. After every piece, open your new debrief history to see how your splits, stroke rate, and force curve have trended over time. We also refreshed how you browse training plans so it's easier to find your next block, and fixed an issue where workouts recorded with the screen locked or the app in the background could undercount your distance. Smoother racing, sharper data, and logging you can trust.
1.15.4 Jun 5
• Race a Friend: reliable live racing with sub-second leaderboards and post-race debriefs
• Workout debriefs now include force-curve and split history
• Redesigned Plans tab as a cleaner Coach Feed
• Fixed: background workouts now save your full distance
• New cycling plan added, plus a refreshed calendar view
Want me to tighten the tone (more energetic / more minimal), trim it shorter, or drop any item?
1.15.3 Jun 5
Race a Friend, fixed end-to-end — races now run reliably from countdown to finish, with results saved and timed to the tenth.
Smoother team live workouts — every rower's finish is recorded and the live board no longer freezes mid-session.
Sharper leaderboards — community 2K and 500m boards now rank to the tenth of a second.
Deeper debrief — new force-curve and split-by-split history after every workout.
Stability fixes and polish throughout.
1.15.2 Jun 4
This update is all about stability and polish. We fixed an issue where the
screen could dim while you were getting set on the erg before your first
stroke — it now stays awake from setup all the way through your debrief. We
also fixed the Live screen occasionally getting stuck on "Ready, take a
stroke" after a workout loaded, made built-in plan workouts load more
reliably on your PM5, and corrected leaderboard times so they read
accurately down to the tenth of a second. Coaches: the workout builder now
keeps the exact targets you type. Thanks for rowing with us!
1.15.1 Jun 3
New: RowIQ is now a native iPad app
The app is rebuilt for iPad — a roomy sidebar layout and a full-size live erg
dashboard with big, read-from-across-the-room tiles, for both athletes and
coaches. Your iPhone layout is unchanged.
For athletes
• Your workout debrief now includes your force curve and split history, with
coaching cues and a corrected stroke-smoothness score.
• The screen stays awake the whole time you're rowing — no more waking the
phone mid-piece.
• The BikeErg live dashboard now scales as cleanly as the RowErg.
• Ask Coach now factors in your power profile, so its advice knows your
strongest and weakest effort durations.
For coaches
• New Coach Review hub puts Compare, Tracker, and manual entry on one screen.
• Compare a team's results from one session to the next to see who's improving.
• Manually enter a result for an athlete who didn't log, so your tracker stays
complete.
• Interval workouts now expand into a per-interval breakdown.
• Your full roster loads reliably, matching the website.
• Fixed split and stroke-rate entry in the workout builder so it no longer
drops what you're typing.

Elite coaching is now live in RowIQ. Coaches Dean Hargrove and Derek Cushman—a U.S. National Team member—are now coaching directly from the app. Get personalized live feedback while you row and drop your 2k this summer, all at the lowest coaching price you'll ever see.

Bug fixes
Background recording now survives screen lock. Workouts were silently cutting off the moment the phone locked (your 30km BikeErg only captured 6km). Root cause: Xcode 26 was dropping the bluetooth-central background-mode key from the generated Info.plist; also added Core Bluetooth state preservation and moved stroke buffering off the main queue so it keeps ticking while suspended. Verified on-device: 53/53 strokes captured across a lock cycle, max 0.364s gap (was 44s). 4000cfaf1
BikeErg splits were displaying 2× the real value in live workout, debrief, dashboard, history, and share cards. PM5 already broadcasts BErg pace per-1000m; the old code doubled it again. RowErg unaffected. 2a535ca10

Race a friend in real time.
This update brings paired sessions to RowIQ — send an invite, drop into the Ready Room with your friend, and the moment both PM5s are connected you'll start the same workout together. Their split, distance, and stroke rate stream next to yours the whole way down the course.
Also in this release:
-Personal Records — your best 2k and 6k now live on your profile.
-Sharper landscape race screen, with a green "Finished" badge the instant a teammate crosses the line ahead of you.
-Bluetooth permission alert with a one-tap path to Settings (no more silent no-op when BT is off).
-Cleaner Premium copy and a smoother 7-day free-trial flow.
-Stability fixes for paired-session countdowns, lobby cleanup, and PM5 reconnects mid-race.

This update improves RowIQ’s PM5 workout flow from setup to debrief. Workouts sent to the PM5 now load more reliably before Live tracking opens, the app-side Finish action correctly exits PM5-controlled sessions, and interval/variable-distance workout details are handled more accurately. We also refined coach workout time entry and polished debrief export behavior for a smoother coaching workflow.
1.03 May 14
Today’s update improves PM5 planned workout reliability in Live View.
Fixed an issue where workouts loaded from app plans could appear as an “Open” session on the third Live View screen.
Improved PM5 workout detection for fixed-time and fixed-distance sessions, especially when the PM5 omits some programmed workout duration fields.
Preserved app-loaded workouts through brief Live View relaunches or transient PM5 menu signals before the first stroke.
Added coverage around PM5 programmed workout target reconstruction so Live View keeps the correct workout type, length, and distance.
This should make planned workouts carry through more reliably from RowIQ to the PM5 and into Live View without losing the session target.
