MTVP

MIDI Timecode Video Player

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

MIDI-controlled video player with timecode MTVP is a MIDI-controlled video player with a timecode display for music composing and scoring. I had a very simple need: Use my synth/sequencer to control playback of :30/:60/:90 second social media videos on my iPhone, with a timecode display, for scoring music. Existing apps are heavy, had a ton of features I didn't want or need, and were all overkill for this simple task. I just wanted to control a video via PLAY/STOP/CONTINUE sent from my synth/sequencer, and see a timecode to understand timing. MTVP does this simply and easily, because that's all it does. Features: - Responds to MIDI system transport messages: play, stop, and continue (with SPP) - Supports MIDI CC control of start/stop/continue via custom configuration - Timecode display - Auto BPM detection from MIDI clock - Hybrid clock sync (timecode corrects to MIDI clock every beat) - Use app with a saved video or no video - Loads video files locally. Takes a bit longer to load, but no privacy concerns and works even without an internet connection. - Mute video audio - Mute toggle, On, and Off available as custom CC mapping for hardware control - Bluetooth support - Auto/Light/Dark appearances - MIDI connection selection, memory, and state detection - Connect directly via cable or use a Mac as a wireless MIDI hub - Supports Apple Shortcuts - Works on Apple Silicon Macs, too! - Works with any MIDI-compatible DAW, sequencer, or software Configuration: - Tap on the TIMECODE to configure preferences

MTVP 1.2 adds Master sync mode and a frame-based timecode, plus iOS 27 fixes WHAT'S NEW • Master sync mode: MTVP can lead the synth. Set the synth to its MIDI sync mode and MTVP's SYNC preference to Master • Tempo for Master mode can be typed, nudged, tapped, or learned from the synth's clock. A start offset compensates for transport latency (TE's OP-1 field: set −120 ms). • Timecode in frames: Preferences → DISPLAY → Timecode lets you pick ms, 24, 25, 30, or 60 fps. Frame modes read HH:MM:SS:FF and wrap like a tape counter. • Stop twice to return both the synth and MTVP to the start. FIXES • Stopping now freezes the video on the exact frame at the timecode. • Play after stop no longer leaves the video frozen on its first frame. • Built for iOS 27
