echoes - leave a mark
The Social Echo
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases
Echoes you hear. Reflections you see. Leave a 10-second video hologram in AR, right where you stand, and discover what others left behind, only by being there.
What if you could leave a piece of your soul in a specific place for someone else to find?
Echoes is a location-based augmented reality experience that turns your world into a living canvas of sound and light. Leave audio memories — Echoes — and now video holograms — Reflections — anchored to the exact spot where you stand. Others can only find them by being there.
ECHOES YOU HEAR
A funny story left on a park bench, a piece of advice hidden at a bus stop, a midnight thought, a heartfelt confession floating near a famous landmark. Record a voice note, drop it where you are, and let your city tune in to its unseen emotional heartbeat.
REFLECTIONS YOU SEE — NEW
Film up to 10 seconds and anchor it in place as a glowing hologram. Through the AR camera, Reflections float right where they were left — hold the circle on one to play it. The more it is loved, the more its light shifts from amber to blue to red.
Every account gets 3 free Reflections each month, and you can get more anytime with in-app purchases.

What's new?
Introducing Reflections:
Leave a 10-second video hologram right where you stand. Others see a 3-second teaser on the map, in the feed and on your profile — the full moment only when they get there, in AR.
• Hold the circle on a Reflection to play it
• Like, comment, tag friends and add #hashtags
• 3 free Reflections every 30 days — get more anytime
Also: your settings now live in your account, plus lots of fixes.
1.14.4 Oct 13
What's new?
• Birthdays: Add your birth date and echoes will wish you a happy birthday. Share it on your feed in one tap, and your friends will know it's your day. Turn it off anytime in Settings → Notifications.
• Never miss an update: echoes now lets you know when a new version is out. Check anytime in Settings → About.
• Long notification banners no longer run off the screen.
• Small fixes and improvements.
1.13.4 Oct 3
What's New?
• See how many comments each post has, and when every comment was written.
• Tap a notification and land right on that comment.
• Your likes on comments now stay, even after reinstalling.
• Sending a comment is quiet now. Sounds are for what you receive.
• Removing a friend now works reliably, on both sides.
• Sign in to like, comment, message and add friends. Browsing the map stays open to everyone.
1.13.3 Sep 28
What's New?
• Notifications about your posts now open the post itself, right at the top of your feed.
• Fixed a crash when opening some notifications on Android.
• Times read naturally everywhere: 3 hours ago, yesterday, last week…
• "liked your post" now says the right thing, in every language.
• Fairer likes: one person, one like.

What's New — 1.12.4
Echoes that glow. The more an echo is loved, the warmer it shines on the map — from orange to a deep amber glow.
Ghost mode, for real. It now stays on after you close the app. While it's on, other people can't see you on the map or in their network, and you won't see them either.
Your name is yours. Usernames are now unique, and you can change yours once every 30 days.
A friendlier feed. A new echo and its post now share the same likes and comments, and everyone's photo and name are always up to date.
Nearby means nearby. In your network, "Nearby" now means within 1 km.
Fixes: liked echoes stay liked after you restart the app.
1.12.4 Sep 24
What's New — 1.12.3
Sort your feed. A new Top view surfaces what people have actually been reacting to this week. Recent is still there, one tap away — the two sit side by side, and the feed remembers nothing you didn't ask for.
Your likes now belong to your account, not to your phone. They're stored with your profile, so they survive a reinstall and follow you to any device you sign in on. Previously they lived only on the device that made them.
Your profile photo stays current everywhere. Change it, and it updates on every echo you've ever left — not just the recent ones.
Fixes
Tapping an echo on the map now flies all the way to it, even from far away.
Tapping your own name or photo opens your own profile.
The "Echoes nearby" setting now takes you straight to Settings if location access was turned down earlier.
1.12.3 Sep 23
What's New?
A feed, for the things that aren't tied to a place.
• Post short text, a voice note, or a GIF. Posts live in the feed only — they never appear on the map.
• Follow people without sending a friend request. Following changes what you see; who can see your posts is still entirely your choice.
• Tap a hashtag to see everything tagged with it, posts and echoes together. You can search hashtags and people from the search bar too.
• Links in posts are tappable.
• Report anything — an echo, a post, a comment, or a message. Reports now reach us properly, and reported content disappears from your view straight away.
Also: panels open with a small zoom from the button you pressed, and the map now holds still while a panel is open instead of drifting under it.
1.12.2 Sep 20
What's New?
• Family relationships — propose one, and it appears only after the other person confirms.
• Your profile now holds a birthday, name, gender and social links, each one set separately to Public, Friends only, or Only me.
Speak your reply.
• Voice comments. Leave a voice note on any echo — the same way the echo itself was left. GIFs too, when words aren't the point.
• Verify your contact email with a 6-digit code. Until it's verified, only you can see it.
• Tag someone in an echo and they'll be notified about its comments and likes as well. It's their memory too.
• Comments and likes now update live while an echo is open.
• Your memories moved into their own panel — tap "Echoes" on your profile to open it. Less clutter, same list.
• Added TikTok to the social links, and email addresses are now tappable on every profile.
Privacy: echo audio is now served privately and only to signed-in listeners, so an echo shared with friends stays with friends — the file itself, not just the listing.
Fixed: the click sound no longer lags, a nearby-echo alert could arrive twice, and liking an echo again no longer sends a repeat notification.
1.11.0 Sep 17
What's New?
Your profile, on your terms.
• Add your name, birthday, gender and a contact email — and set each one separately to Public, Friends only, or Only me. Everything is optional and starts private.
• Add your Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube or X, with the same three-way control. Tap to open.
• Family ties: propose a relationship — sister, partner, cousin and more — and it appears only after the other person confirms. Either of you can remove it later.
• Cleaner profile: compact action buttons, and tapping a photo or name in My Network opens that profile.
Fixed: in-app notifications could stop arriving after a network interruption, and a nearby-echo alert could be delivered twice.
1.10.2 Sep 16
What's new?
- Voice messages
Send a voice note in any private conversation. Tap the microphone, speak, send. Up to two minutes, with a waveform you can follow while it plays.
- Unsend
Changed your mind? Long-press your own message to retract it — it disappears for both of you, instantly, together with the audio.
- Report a message
Any message you receive can be reported from the long-press menu.
- A new record button
Rebuilt in glass, and it sinks under your finger when you press it.
Friend requests, fixed properly
Accepting now connects both sides every time. Cancelling a request clears it from the other person's notifications, declining releases it, and the same person can't pile up twice in your list.
Notifications take you where they belong
A status or photo update opens that person's profile, an accepted request opens theirs, and a like on your comment opens the conversation.
Map fixes
Echoes next to your own pin are tappable again, and the map no longer opens on empty water before finding you.
1.10.1 Sep 9
What's New:
- Voice messages
Send a voice note in any private conversation. Tap the microphone, speak, send. Up to two minutes, with a waveform you can follow while it plays.
- Unsend
Changed your mind? Long-press your own message to retract it — it disappears for both of you, instantly.
- Report a message
Any message you receive can be reported from the long-press menu.
- Smarter notifications
Tapping a notification now takes you where it belongs: a status or photo update opens that person's profile, and so does an accepted friend request.
- Faster map
Markers no longer redraw while you listen. Panning and zooming are noticeably smoother.
- Fixes
Confirmation dialogs no longer hide behind panels, replies to a voice note, GIF or shared echo show a proper preview instead of raw text, and removing a friend no longer leaves a stale "request sent" on their profile.
1.09 Sep 4
What's New?
Sharper on the map, steadier everywhere.
• Tapping an echo near someone's pin opens the echo, not their profile
• Notifications about a new echo take you straight to it
• The player stops cleanly when a memory ends
• Status bubbles sit where they belong, and update without a restart
• Mark notifications as read from the long-press menu
• Fixes for sign-in, map loading, and panels closing on their own
1.08 Aug 30
What new?
Shared echoes, fixed.
• Tapping a shared link now opens that exact echo
• Share messages carry the moment — what was written, who was tagged, and who left it. You can edit the text before you send it
A map that holds still.
• The map stays where you put it when you zoom out
• Echoes keep loading as you pull back to city, country and continent scale
AR that respects the real world.
• Distance finally reads like distance — far echoes look far
• Echoes now sit at their true height. Leave one on the ground floor and it stays on the ground floor when you're upstairs
Never miss someone.
• Tap the bell on a friend's profile to be notified when they leave a new echo or change their photo. Off by default, one tap to turn off again
1.07 Aug 27
GIFs and stickers are here
Send GIFs and stickers in your messages — search, tap, done.
Also in this update:
• Conversations now show the day, so you can tell yesterday from today at a glance
• Reactions appear instantly for both people, and you can finally react to your own messages
• Tapping a notification takes you straight to the echo or the chat it came from — and it no longer starts playing before you're ready
• A new Compass option in Settings, with live accuracy and help calibrating it
• Smoother recentering on the map
• Faster launch, and the controls now sit properly above the home indicator
Thank you for listening.

Version 1.03 — What's changed
This release fixes push notifications, which had never worked, and
reworks how friend requests are handled.
• Push notifications now work. Device tokens were never being saved,
so notifications never reached anyone. Registration and delivery are
fixed and verified on device.
• Notifications are localized. Push notifications, in-app banners and
the notification centre appear in the recipient's chosen language
(English, Romanian, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Hungarian,
Greek).
• Tapping a notification opens the relevant screen — the conversation,
the echo on the map, or the sender's profile — instead of the map.
• Friend requests must now be explicitly accepted or declined, and can
be hidden and restored. Previously a stray swipe deleted them with no
way to recover. Accepting shows a confirmation in place.
• Online status is accurate: pending requests no longer show a presence
indicator, and users who removed you are no longer listed as connected.
• Notification centre redesigned: wider layout, sender profile pictures,
and swipe gestures that show whether the action hides or deletes.
• Map: improved tap accuracy on user markers. Opening the audio player
no longer moves the camera away from the selected echo.
• Audio: fixed a case where a finished recording could restart and loop
indefinitely.
• AR view: echoes are now lit and shaded three-dimensionally instead of
rendering as flat discs.
• Terminology: people you are connected with are now called "Friends"
rather than "Travelers".
No changes to data collection, permissions, or account handling.

Version 1.02 — What's changed
This update focuses on notifications and interaction polish.
• Push notifications: fixed end to end. Device tokens were never being
persisted, so notifications never reached users. Registration and
delivery are now working and verified on device.
• Localized notifications: push notifications, in-app banners and the
notification panel are delivered in the recipient's selected language
(English, Romanian, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Hungarian, Greek).
• Messaging: tapping "Send message" on a profile now opens that
conversation directly instead of the conversation list. An echo shared
in a direct message now appears as a tappable card that opens it on
the map.
• Map: improved tap accuracy on user markers — the touch target no
longer extends well beyond the visible marker. Opening the audio
player no longer pulls the camera away from the selected echo.
• Audio: fixed a case where a finished recording could restart and
loop indefinitely.
• Removed duplicated click feedback when switching between panels.
No changes to data collection, permissions, or account handling.
1.02 Aug 16
What's new in this build
• Localization — the app interface is now available in 8 languages (English, Romanian, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Hungarian, Greek). English is the default; the language can be changed at any time in Settings.
• Per-echo privacy — users can set each voice recording to Public, Friends, or Private, and change that setting later on recordings they already published. The rule is enforced server-side with row-level security, not only in the interface, and comments inherit the same visibility as the recording they belong to.
• Message reactions — five emoji reactions in direct messages.
• Interface polish — redesigned in-app notifications, smoother map recentering, and faster location acquisition at launch.
• Bug fixes — resolved an audio session error that could occur after rapid interaction with the interface, and several layout issues in the messaging screen.
Notes for testing
• This app is location-based. Echoes are voice recordings anchored to GPS coordinates and are only shown near the device's current position, so granting location access gives the most representative experience.
• The app launches and stays fully usable if location permission is denied or unavailable. The map loads a default region within a few seconds rather than waiting for a GPS fix.
• Browsing the map does not require an account. Signing in with Apple is required only to record an echo, post a comment, or send a message.
• AR mode requires camera access. Declining it does not affect the rest of the app
