PulseGuard: Heart Rate
Live BPM overlay & zone alerts
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
See your live heart rate float over any workout app, color-coded by zone, with an instant alert when you push past your limit. No accounts, no tracking.
Train smarter with PulseGuard — a focused heart-rate monitor that pairs with your Bluetooth sensor or Apple Watch and stays out of your way.
LIVE HEART RATE
Pair any Bluetooth Heart Rate Profile (0x180D) sensor — Polar H10/H9, Wahoo TICKR, Garmin HRM-Dual/Pro, COROS, Suunto, and most chest straps, armbands and watches that broadcast standard BLE heart rate. Or use your Apple Watch as the source. Live BPM in a clean, full-screen HUD that color-shifts as you move between zones.
PICTURE-IN-PICTURE OVERLAY
Float a compact BPM card on top of any other app. Run on the treadmill while watching YouTube. Cycle indoors with your favorite training video. The PiP card stays visible, color-coded to your current zone, and audible alerts cut through whatever you're playing.
THRESHOLD ALERTS
Set a maximum heart rate and PulseGuard sounds and vibrates the moment you cross it — on iPhone, iPad, and as a wrist haptic on Apple Watch. Pick from 10 alert tones: classic beep, triple pulse, rising chime, siren, and more. Cooldown is configurable so a steady-state effort doesn't spam you.
HEART-RATE ZONES
Four-zone model — Recovery, Aerobic, Threshold, Maximum — with four ways to set your max:
- Tanaka (208 − 0.7 × age) — modern default
- Fox (220 − age) — classic
- Karvonen — heart-rate reserve, uses your resting HR
- Manual HRmax for lab/treadmill-tested athletes
Drag any boundary on the zone scale; reset to the formula anytime.
WORKOUT SESSIONS
Every connected window automatically becomes a session. Browse history with start time, duration, average/min/max BPM, a full BPM chart, and an estimated calorie burn (Keytel et al. 2005). Sessions optionally write to Apple Health.
WORKOUT MUSIC
Built-in instrumental tracks to keep your tempo, playable right from the workout screen.
MULTIPLE DEVICES
Pair several sensors and switch between them with a tap. Auto-connect picks up the first paired device broadcasting at launch.
PRIVACY FIRST
PulseGuard has no servers. No analytics. No tracking. No advertising. Everything stays on your device. Health data is read only when you tap "Import from Health," and never leaves the phone.
10 LANGUAGES
English, Русский, Deutsch, Français, Español, Italiano, Português (Brasil), 日本語, 한국어, 简体中文.
PulseGuard Pro (one-time unlock, no subscription) enables the Picture-in-Picture overlay, threshold sound + haptic alerts, and Apple Health workout recording. A 7-day free trial starts on first launch — no card required, full functionality.
