Chest Tube Simulator
Chest drainage system trainer
$49.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Read a chest drain the way you will at the bedside — a fully animated water-seal simulator with lessons, complication drills, and timed quizzes.
Chest Tube Simulator is a hands-on teaching tool for understanding dry-seal chest drainage — built for nurses, med students, nursing students, new-grad nurses, CNAs, respiratory therapy students, and the educators who teach them.
Instead of memorizing diagrams, you work with a realistic, fully animated chest drain and watch every chamber respond as you change the patient's condition. See the water seal tidal with breathing, watch an air leak bubble, set the suction, and learn to read the device the way you will at the bedside.
WHAT'S INSIDE
Guided Lessons
Step-by-step walkthroughs of the drainage system — the anatomy of each chamber, setup, reading the water seal, setting suction safely, recognizing danger, and troubleshooting for transport. The device animates through each teaching step so the concepts click.
Interactive Simulator
A free-play sandbox. Choose a scenario — pneumothorax, hemothorax, pleural effusion, air leak, clamped tube, overfill, and more — then adjust drainage and air-leak levels and watch the unit react in real time.
Pressure Lab
See the physiology behind the device. Follow intrapleural and alveolar pressures through the breathing cycle across conditions like pneumothorax, tension pneumothorax, effusion, and hemothorax, then place a chest tube and apply suction to watch the lung re-expand — with the pressure waveform updating live.
Managing Complications
Quick, bedside-style response guides for the problems that matter: unexpected air leaks, dislodged or disconnected tubing, an overturned unit, subcutaneous emphysema, and more.
Challenge Yourself
"What's wrong with this drain?" quizzes with a live timer, streaks, instant explanations, and a results screen — a fast way to check your understanding.
Progress
Tracks lessons completed and quiz performance so you can see what to review.
DESIGNED FOR LEARNING
• Works on iPhone and iPad
• Clear, realistic device animation
• No account, no ads, and no data collection
IMPORTANT
This app is for education and training only. It is a simulation and is NOT a medical device. It does not provide medical advice and must not be used to guide patient care. Always follow your facility's policies and your instructors' guidance.
Read the air leak the way you would at the bedside.
NEW — Reading the bubbling
• The water-seal / air-leak monitor now shows the clinically critical difference between INTERMITTENT bubbling (short bursts with quiet gaps, in time with breathing) and CONTINUOUS bubbling (a persistent, nonstop stream).
• Choose the pattern and severity, trigger a cough, forced exhale, or reposition to bring out a leak, or run a resolving or worsening scenario and watch the pattern trend on its own.
• A short teaching caption names the pattern and what to assess, and a new "Reading the bubbling" quiz checks your understanding.
• Preset scenarios are now pattern-accurate — pneumothorax vents intermittently; a system leak bubbles continuously.
REFINED
• Cleaned up the Learn content: answer options now wrap fully, tightened a few captions, and clarified that the bellows reaching its mark — not a fixed wall-suction number — is what confirms suction is being delivered.
