Effects now belong to the cut. FX, Filter, Adjustments, Voice FX and Reveal apply to the cut you selected. Select several cuts and they apply to all of them at once: a filter on three cuts, the neon on one, the rest clean. Marking several cuts: drag on the strip above the thumbnails, or tap a cut with a finger resting on the screen (Shift on the Mac) to take everything in between, Command to add one at a time, Command A to take them all. Drag one cut of the group and the whole group travels with it, in the order they are in. The transition panel works on the group too: the type and the length go on every selected cut. On/off effect, in the cut's options, has one switch per effect the cut has, named after it: Neon, VHS, Vintage, Adjustments, Trailer, Reveal. Turning it off keeps the setting and only takes the effect out of that cut. The effect now covers the whole frame. Shrink the video inside the canvas and the filter, the vignette, the drawn line and the Reveal line take the leftovers and the background too, instead of staying locked inside the video's rectangle. Also fixed: a project now opens at the file's own size no matter how you import it, a recording on devices before the M1 keeps its shape, a project saved by an older version comes back whole after an update, and the App Store screenshots setting stays the way you left it. TRAILER VOICES Nine new AI voices, and a Trailer effect that turns any of them into a movie announcer: chest, presence and a big discreet room. Twenty-two voices in all. STORY IN A TAP Describe your app and the length you want, and the Story writes itself — then the AI voice reads it. Needs Apple Intelligence. THREE NEW EFFECTS Hell, Heaven and Spectro: fire from below, light from above, and a spectral version of whoever is on screen. Every effect now has Image, the slider that brings your video back on top of the effect. VOICE FX Studio chain for your voice: body, presence, air, a Trailer preset and more. It applies to the whole video, narration and cuts alike, and any single cut can opt out. REMOVE BACKGROUND, FINALLY CLEAN That thin line of leftover green around your subject has a slider of its own now — Fringe. The outline of a person is half background, half person, and Fringe dries that edge and pulls the color out of the whole scene. You can also pinch the frame to zoom in while you pick the color, and the tolerance repaints as you drag instead of after you let go. IMPORT Video or image, from the Library, from Files or pasted: each one comes in as a cut. The Import button on the toolbar is the way in. ALSO The video's own sound got a volume slider, under the music. On the Mac, export goes straight to the Finder save panel, and ⌘S / ⌘⇧S save and export. FIXED Undo now reaches the sliders it used to miss. An image imported into an empty project shows up as a cut. Effects redraw right away, anywhere in the video. A heavy effect prepares in the background with a progress bar instead of freezing the preview. Maximum effort!

Your projects, safe. Your voice, clean. Your photos, edited for you. BACKUP OF YOUR PROJECTS Your projects live inside the app, so deleting it takes them along. Now you pick a folder in Files or iCloud Drive and every project is kept out there too. Deleted the app, or got a new iPad? Restore and they are all back. It runs on its own when you leave the app, and copies only what changed, so it stays quick even on a project full of video. STUDIO VOICE Clean the voice is a full studio chain now: EQ, levelling, de-esser and limiter. And it no longer stops at your voice-over. The voice recorded inside the video gets the same treatment, so the phone in your hand starts sounding like a microphone in a booth. A video with nobody talking is left alone. SLIDESHOW Pick a handful of photos and the app builds the whole sequence: one image per cut, movement on each one, and the transition you chose in between. With music in the project, every change lands on the beat. It comes out finished and already playing, not a pile of cuts for you to fix. AUTO CUT ON THE VOICE It listens to you. Every stretch of speech becomes a cut, every pause between them goes out, and what you get back is the jump cut edit you would have made by hand, in seconds. Tell it which language you speak and it does the rest. Also new: VHS, the fifth effect in FX, and it is not a green filter. The shot is recorded on tape and played back on a tube TV: lines come in late and the picture wobbles, color smears off every edge, the head loses the track and a band of torn picture climbs the screen. It sits on top of the other effects, so a drawing underneath plays on the old TV too. Line width, a new ruler in Take On Me, Draw Effect and Neon. Strength was always one thing and width came along for the ride, so a hairline was only possible by losing the line. Two rulers now, and halfway is exactly the calibration you already had. In Neon, Glow replaced Contour: it is how much the sign lights up, the halo and the body of light inside it. The robot puts your images on the beat, even the ones already on the timeline: each photo holds a whole number of beats and the change falls on the beat. Drag a video onto the gallery and the project is born at the file's own size, with the video already in it. Several at once: the first sets the format, the rest come in as cuts. Midtones, the eighth adjustment: rescue a dark video while black stays black and white stays white. Auto Adjust was rebuilt around it and does not burn the picture anymore. Improve, in Phrases and in Story: Apple Intelligence rewrites, proofreads or summarizes what you wrote. The gallery got real drag and drop: drop between cards to reorder, on a card to stack. Fixes: exported video no longer comes out washed, the movement of the images does not jolt at every transition, and a cut whose file went missing no longer takes the app down. Maximum effort!

This one is about the look. Three effects to draw over your video, and they stack: Take On Me: the contour redrawn frame by frame, straight from the a-ha video. New Scribbles slider included. Draw Effect: the whole shot synthesized in pencil, stroke by stroke on paper. Runs on the GPU, so exports that took 7 minutes now draw in under 30 seconds. Neon: only the outline, glowing like a sign, with a Treatment that takes the whole scene into neon colors. Plus paper textures and blend modes behind each cut. Reveal: a line slides across the cut showing the before on one side and the after on the other. The screenshot editor got its own Reveal too, with a draggable line and another image behind your art. Also new: Freeze at end: the cut plays and the last frame holds as long as you choose. Music Delay: the video opens in silence and the track comes in later, with the fade in. On iPad and Mac, FX, Adjust, Reveal and Music are movable windows now: drag the handle and park them anywhere.
