Put an earbud in, share a 4-digit code, and talk at a whisper while the venue rages. No internet, no accounts — your phones connect directly. Now with friend radar.
You're shouting from eighteen inches away and your friend still can't hear you. Put an earbud in, share a 4-digit code, and suddenly you're talking at a whisper while the venue rages around you. Undertone gives 2 to 8 people a clear group voice conversation in places where talking is impossible: loud bars, concerts, clubs, airplane cabins, ski lifts, separate cars on a road trip.
HOW IT WORKS
1. One person taps HOST and shows a QR code.
2. Everyone else scans it, or types the 4-digit code.
3. Talk normally. Hear everyone clearly.
That's the whole thing. No sign-up, no internet, nothing to configure.
WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
• No internet, no accounts. Your phones connect directly to each other over local wireless. It works in a basement bar, on a plane, in the middle of nowhere.
• In with 4 digits. Joining takes seconds with a code or a QR scan.
• Engineered for loud venues. Noise suppression, per-person volume, and a low-latency mode keep voices clear when nothing else is.
• Friend radar. See where your friends are around you, live on screen (iPhone 11 and later).
• Private by architecture. There are no servers. Nothing is recorded, nothing is uploaded, and when the night ends the room is gone.
MIX YOUR OWN TABLE
Tap a friend's circle to make them louder or quieter, just for you. Mute someone just for yourself. They'll never know. Muted but want to jump in? Hold the mic button to talk, release to go quiet again.
WORKS WITH WHAT'S IN YOUR EARS
AirPods shine here, but any Bluetooth earbuds work, along with wired headsets and MFi hearing aids.
GOOD TO KNOW
• 2 to 8 people per room, everyone within about 30 feet.
• Everyone needs an iPhone (iOS 17 or later) with Undertone installed.
• If the host leaves, the room passes to the next person and the conversation keeps going.
• The host's phone mixes the audio, so pick the one with the most battery.
Bring it somewhere loud.
Ratings & Reviews
Undertone 1.1 — more range, more privacy:
• End-to-end encryption — rooms joined by QR code are now sealed with per-person keys. Look for the Encrypted badge in your room.
• Extended range — turn on "Help extend range" and your phone can bridge a friend who wanders too far from the group. Voice stays encrypted the whole way; the phone in the middle can't listen in.
• Room map — tap the connection badge to see who reaches the room through whom, with live link health.
• Sharper radar — finding your friends now works in more places, with honest hints when direction is approximate.
Plus reliability fixes and polish throughout.
