Monthly Rule — that's the app's new name, and monthlyrule.com is its new home. Nothing about the strategies has changed. The home screen now says what the app is for: one decision a month, taken from the published rules, with each card showing what that rule says to hold. Clearer signposting throughout. The link to your settings and the link out to the website no longer look identical, and the US ticker list now offers to show you what it holds rather than to edit a list that is fixed.

The date shown with each decision now names the closing prices it actually used, rather than the date you happened to open the app. The two differ more often than you would expect. When a month ends on a weekend the rule settles on the Friday before it, and if you check in the morning before the US market opens, there is no closing price for today yet.

Strategy compositions now come from the server, which follows each published paper directly. Previously the app carried its own copy, and the two could drift apart. • Your UK fund choices are applied to every strategy, so each asset is scored on the fund you actually hold. • Bold Asset Allocation now watches the canary assets its paper specifies. • The ETF settings screen lists exactly the assets a strategy scores — no more, no less.

Home now opens on what you should be holding right now — one card per strategy you follow, set at the last month-end rebalance, with a tick to mark when you've done it. No more filling in a form before you see an answer. Every allocation names the fund behind the ticker and says in plain language what offensive, defensive and hybrid mean.
