TunaWars
Ancient War & Trade
$1.99
New in 6.1: the Late Roman Republic. Lead the legions from Marius to Actium, rule through client kings, and watch every battle told, phase by phase.
TunaWars is turn-based war and trade from the Bronze Age to the fall of the Roman Republic, built on the historians' own numbers: the orders you send arrive late, the news you receive is already old, and a chronicler writes your reign as you play.
NEW: THE LATE ROMAN REPUBLIC
From Marius to Actium. Rome's legions fight in cohorts and belong to the generals who raised them; a feared general is hailed Imperator. Rule through client kings and proconsuls a season away, who may break away and found a Rome of their own. Slaves work the estates that pay for it all, and may rise.
WAR AND TRADE AS THEY WERE
Battles follow a model fitted to real battles. Two lines lose men slowly; the killing comes when one breaks and is pursued, and a staff officer tells you every battle, phase by phase. Most armies waste away off the field, from hunger, winter and sickness. Every city prices each good by its own shelf, and its townsfolk eat first. Every rule names its sources, and the reading behind them is in the game.
TWO WAYS TO RULE
Rule as Autokrator and you name what the realm is to achieve: take this city, hold that one, break a rival, bring in more grain. Add a standing concern or two, and your adviser gives every order. Each turn it answers you: what it is doing, what is still missing, and why a thing cannot be done. Or rule as Epistates and give every order with your own hand. Switch at any time.
OR TRADE INSTEAD
Play as a Trader: a counting-house in a host city, caravans and hulls, a purse, and no land. Buy where a good is cheap, sell where it is dear, pay the tolls and live under your host's protection. There is no victory: grow rich, or be ruined. Or serve as a Satrap, governing a province for a crown you do not rule.
THE RULER'S MAP
A painted board: forests, hills and walled cities, every army a painted figure of its troops. Zoom out for the campaign chart, the realm in ink on parchment, where three hands of ink say how far to trust what you see.
COMMAND AT A DISTANCE
A march order to a frontier host rides out by courier and takes effect when it arrives. Until then that army does what you last told it. News comes back the same way, and a distant host silent too long may already be gone.
FIVE AGES OF WAR
The Late Bronze Age, with its palaces, chariots and trading posts. The Archaic Era, from the Assyrian Empire to the rise of Persia. The Classical world, from the Hellenic city-states to the tribes of the north. The Late Roman Republic, from the Gallic Wars to Pharsalus. And the Dark Ages: seven peoples of men beside elves, dwarves, gnomes and orc hosts.
A WORLD THAT TRADES
Three desks keep the realm in hand: Court, Couriers and Ledger, with the Market inside it. Trade at your depots or from a caravan on the road. Ask Pheme where a good is sold, what your agents report, and what is only rumor. What you buy rides home by convoy, and an unescorted convoy is a target.
RIVALS WHO REMEMBER
Seat xenoi at your table: rival rulers with a face, a name and a temperament. Each plays as one of the trained generals, and you may put Apple Intelligence or a language model on your own key in front of it; no key is ever needed. They see only what their scouts report, and they remember you from one war to the next.
THE CHRONICLE OF YOUR REIGN
A chronicler writes your reign as you play: an order of battle for every engagement, a gazetteer of the peoples you met, a replay of every season's marches. Bind it as a book.
THE STRATEGIKA
Every rule of the game in five books: Foundations, Politics, Economy, Warfare and Diplomacy.

Ratings & Reviews
TunaWars 6.1 — The Late Roman Republic
A FIFTH AGE: THE LATE ROMAN REPUBLIC
• From Marius to Actium: the last century of the Roman Republic, around the Middle Sea.
• Rome fights in cohorts of professional heavy foot. Its horse and light foot it borrows from its allies or buys from sellswords.
• An army belongs to the general who leads it: while he lives, no one may stand him down or put another man over his men. A renowned general is hailed by his soldiers as Imperator.
• Rule through client kings, allied cities and proconsuls a season's ride away, who may break away and found a Rome of their own.
• Slaves work the estates and mines that pay for the legions. Keep too many of them unguarded, and they may rise in a servile war.
• Around Rome stand the Hellenistic kingdoms, Mithridates' Pontus with its scythed chariots, Tigranes' Armenia of the mailed horse, Parthia, the Levant and its camel riders, and the Celts, Iberians and Numidians of the edges.
• Historical wars: the Jugurthine War, the Mithridatic Wars, Sertorius in Hispania, Spartacus and the slaves of Italy, the Gallic Wars, Pharsalus, and A Middle East Campaign of 103 BC.
BATTLES, TOLD
• Open a battle and a staff officer walks you through it, phase by phase: the deployment, the approach, the clash round by round, the rout and the pursuit. The picture changes with each.
• The field is drawn for the ground it was fought on, and each general stands at his standard. Tap it to open him.
AND MORE
• New painted signs across the chronicle, the battle odds, the Siege card, units and terrain.
• The ledger has pages of their own for mercenaries and merchant houses.
