A new home for your record Your timeline has a new layout: a week strip, a clear line of entries, and filters for people, category and date you can reach easily. Better filters Pick more than one category at a time, or set your own start and end dates. The Record screen has the same filters, and your PDF export covers exactly the dates you choose. Protecting an entry Protecting an entry now plays a short sequence and ends on the finished record, with its trusted timestamp. If protecting fails, your entry stays safe and you can try again. Smoother and faster Photos load and share without the app freezing. Swiping back from a record works more reliably. Big records open and check themselves faster. A rebuilt PDF export, ready to hand to your attorney. THE EXPORT A cover page, then a chronological index with real page numbers. Every page after the cover carries a running header and a page-numbered footer. Each entry now leads with its Entry ID and category, and shows whether it was sealed in the app or imported. Amendments sit on one labelled line, and the event date is explained wherever it differs from the date the entry was recorded. Attachments appear as exhibits. Every photo, video, voice note, receipt and screenshot gets an exhibit ID and is included, none are skipped. Message threads print as a compact table, and unconfirmed text screenshots are labelled as such. Appendix A lists every entry in seal order with its hash-chain position, so anyone can verify the record is intact and unaltered. Pick a custom start date when choosing what to export. ALSO A new welcome screen the first time you open the app. Smaller fixes to layout, dates and labels throughout the export.

Log something today for a moment that happened earlier. Entries now carry the date it happened, separate from the date you wrote it down, and you can set or change that date any time from the entry itself. ALSO IN THIS UPDATE Create your own categories for anything the built-in list does not cover, up to ten. Add a supervisor in Family setup, and note their presence on an entry.

This update corrects the last one. Documented 1.2 described a way to bring your existing records in from spreadsheets, documents and saved files. That feature was not finished and should not have gone out. It has been taken out while the work is completed, and it will come back when it is ready. Anything you already brought in is still in your evidence library and still on your timeline, exactly where you left it. Importing a conversation from screenshots, and importing a saved email, both work as they did before and are not affected. Everything else in 1.2 is unchanged: the attorney invitation, the reminders you can now change in Settings, and the new setup for first-time installs. We are sorry for the confusion.

Documented 1.2 brings your existing records in, lets you invite an attorney before they have an account, and puts your reminders where you can change them. IMPORT WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE Open the inbox from your timeline and tap "Import a conversation". Bring in spreadsheets and documents, screenshots and photos, or saved emails. Nothing becomes part of your record until you have reviewed it, and every file is kept exactly as it arrived. If an import is interrupted, what was saved stays saved and you can carry on. There is a spreadsheet template if you want the dates read without being asked about every row. INVITE YOUR ATTORNEY Attorney access no longer needs your attorney to have an account first. Enter their email in Settings and we send them the invitation. Your record stays on your phone until they set one up, then connects itself. Attorney sharing is part of Documented Plus. REMINDERS YOU CAN CHANGE The reminders you chose during setup now live in Settings under Reminders, with their times and days, so they can be changed whenever your week changes. A NEW FIRST RUN If you are installing Documented for the first time, setup now asks what your situation is, what you want to keep track of, and who the record covers, and ends by showing you what it has put in place. If you already use Documented, your record and your settings are untouched, and you will not see the new setup. ALSO IN THIS UPDATE Holding a button no longer turns it blank while your finger is down. The setup summary holds together at the largest text sizes, and VoiceOver skips decorative icons.

Documented now remembers your preference for product analytics, which you can switch off any time in Settings under Privacy. Dates and times in your record and in exported PDFs now display correctly on every device, whatever calendar or clock format it uses. Entries are now sealed at the exact moment you seal them.

Small update, mostly things that were in the way. SETTING UP IS SIMPLER Only your own name is needed to start a record now. Children and a co-parent are optional and can be added whenever you like, and the whole step can be skipped. Requiring a child was never something the app enforced anywhere else, so it was asking for something it did not need. We also corrected a line on that screen. It used to say children's names were only in an export if you chose to include them. They are never in an exported PDF at all, and the app now says so. PHOTOS CARRY THEIR OWN DATE When you attach a photo, Documented now reads the date the file itself reports and shows it on the entry, under When. This is what the photo claims about itself, not something Documented verifies. A photo that has been through a screenshot or a messaging app usually carries no date, and a missing date now reads as missing rather than as a guess. Documented attests to when you sealed an entry, and that has not changed. SEND FEEDBACK WITHOUT LEAVING THE APP There is a new App feedback option in the You tab. It sends your message to us along with your app version and phone model so we can make sense of it, and nothing else. We store none of it. It arrives as an email and that is all. ALSO Documented no longer asks for access to your photo library. It never read from it, so it should not have been asking. A category label no longer breaks a word across two lines at the largest text sizes.

Documented is now a subscription, with a 7-day free trial. If you installed Documented before this update, nothing changes for you. Your original free terms are permanent, and this update takes nothing away. WHAT THE SUBSCRIPTION COVERS Writing and sealing new entries, the independent DigiCert timestamp on each one, photo, video, voice and receipt attachments, iCloud sync of your own record, search, filtering, amendments, PDF export, and encrypted sharing with your attorney. No entry limit, no attachment limit, no storage tier. Reading is always free. Everything you have already sealed stays readable, searchable and verifiable whether you subscribe or not. If a trial ends without a purchase, your record becomes read-only rather than locked away. ALSO IN THIS UPDATE An entry is no longer labelled with a street address more precise than the location fix can support. With precise location switched off, the entry records the area rather than naming a building it cannot stand behind, and the accuracy of every fix is now shown beside the pin. The export badge reads "Location sealed" rather than "Location verified". The app seals the coordinate your device reported and folds it into the entry's hash. It does not independently verify it, and the badge should not have said otherwise. Two reminders now arrive near the end of a free trial, two days before it ends and again the day before, so a trial never converts by surprise.
