You remember where it is, not what it looked like. • A pin's menu, and the card that opens when you tap it on the map, can now open it in Google Street View so you can stand in the place again, or in Google Maps. • A pin can be moved by hand instead of retyping its coordinates: choose Move this pin from its Location menu, then press and hold it on the map and drag it where it goes. Nothing changes until you keep it, and then you are asked whether to update the address as well. • The map reopens where you left it, instead of always going back to the same spot. • You can pin where you are from the Action button, from Shortcuts and from Siri, without opening the app first. • Paste a position into the search field to go there, and copy a pin's position to take it with you.

Your photos already know where you have been. • Pins from photos reads the date and place your photos carry — on the device, and none of them leaves it — and offers back the places you went to and never pinned. • Read the whole library, or just a handful of photos you pick. • Ask for each city, each area or each place, with a floor on how many photos it takes and how far back to go. • A place you returned to becomes one pin with a visit for each day, dated from the photographs themselves. • From inside any visit, find the photos taken there on that day and bring them in. • Deleting a pin that carries many photos is no longer slow. • The card that opens when you tap a pin on the map gives the year of the last visit, not only the day and the month.

The map keeps up now, however many pins you have. • Panning and zooming stay smooth with thousands of pins, from a single street out to the whole world. • Any photo a pin holds — its own or one inside a visit — can be its main photo, and it now shows in the pin list and on the card that opens when you tap a pin on the map. Inside a pin, tap the photo to see it full size, or the small map to go there. • A visit can be given photos and files while you are still writing it, and the whole row of a visit answers a tap. • The numbers on a journey's stops stand above the pins instead of hiding behind them, and the category list says how many pins each one holds.

Choose the photo that stands for each pin, and find the ones hidden inside visits. • Any photo a pin holds — its own or one inside a visit — can become the primary photo, shown large when you open the pin. Choose none and nothing changes. • Visits show thumbnails of the photos they contain. Until now you had to open a visit to notice them. • Pins imported from an earlier version show their old photo straight away. • A more responsive map when you zoom out with many pins.

List the pins nearest to you, and choose whether overlapping pins group. • New “Nearby pins” entry: your pins ordered by distance, each showing how far it is. No radius to set. • The map menu lets you turn grouping off: every pin stays where it is, even when they overlap. Tapping a spot with several pins opens the list, so none of them stays hidden. • The map style — standard, hybrid, satellite — is now remembered between launches. • Fixed: when importing from an earlier version, the option to use classic pins now works even if you had already imported the same archive.

The classic pin is back, and the map shows far more of your pins. • A new “Classic pin” shape for categories and for individual pins, in the color you chose. • Pins now group only when they would actually overlap, so you see many more of them without zooming in. • When zooming can no longer separate them, tapping a group opens the list of pins at that point. No pin stays hidden under another. • When importing from an earlier version, you can give every category the classic pin at once, keeping their colors. • Smoother map with large archives. • A purchase waiting for approval now unlocks the full version on its own, without restarting the app.

Classic pins are back. Choose the smaller classic pin shape for your categories while keeping their color.
