Your favourite books have a pattern. Match Book finds it — then matches it, bends it, or breaks it.
Most recommendation engines tell you what people who bought that also bought. Match Book does something different: it reads the books you personally rated five stars, works out what they have in common across fifteen dimensions, and looks for books that share it.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Import your Goodreads library export. It's a CSV file — the app walks you through getting it.
2. Match Book reads your favourites across fifteen dimensions: genre, mood, pace, tone, length, setting in time and place, narrative style, publication era, popularity, series or standalone, themes, ending style, and the author's gender and career stage.
3. Get books that fit your theme exactly — or turn a single dial to explore next door, or spin the wheel and flip your strongest preferences on purpose.
Every recommendation is checked against a public book catalogue before you see it, so you don't get sent after books that don't exist. Each one shows how well it fits and which dimensions it hit.
YOUR READING DNA
Your taste theme is drawn as a fifteen-spoke web. The further out a spoke, the more consistent you are on that dimension. Tap any spoke to see what it measures and where you sit on it.
NO ACCOUNT. NO SERVER.
There is no account, no login, and no Match Book server. Your library, your ratings and your theme are stored on your device, and none of it ever comes to us. To read your books, the app sends book details to OpenAI under your own key, and only after showing you exactly what is sent and asking first. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
Changing phones? Export one backup file and restore it on the new device — your library, your theme and all the book analysis come with it.
NO SUBSCRIPTION, EVER
Match Book is free and has no in-app purchases. Instead of charging you a monthly fee, you bring your own AI provider key and pay that provider directly — which works out at a fraction of what a subscription would cost.
IMPORTANT: Match Book requires your own OpenAI API key to build your theme and find matches. Creating one takes a few minutes. Reading a whole library costs roughly 30 cents, once; each round of matches after that is a few cents. Most people spend under a dollar a month. You can explore the app with the built-in sample library before setting anything up.
NEW RELEASES THAT FIT
Match Book can watch for new books by the authors you love and tell you when one lands that fits your theme. The check runs on your device, and there's no push server.
