This update includes stability improvements and minor fixes.

Pro now shows the current price more clearly, with a smaller crossed-out former price where available. The “Keep this look” sheet now offers the annual subscription, with clearer trial eligibility and renewal details.

The calendar now follows your gestures: swipe up to show one week, down for the month, and left or right to move between months or weeks. A brief animation shows you how on your first visit. We also fixed a photo preview issue after setup and refined transitions.

Your photos now show just as you took them: widgets, Photo Roll included, no longer lay a shade over them. If you want one, turn up Contrast when you adjust a photo. The Custom Backdrop page has a new look, too: your widget stays in view at the top, your photos sit below in their own shapes, and a tap ripples a photo onto the widget. Scrolling and animations are smoother on iPhone Pro and iPad Pro. This update also fixes a crash some people saw on iOS 26.

New: Photo Roll, a widget that turns your event's own photos over behind the count (Countdown Pro). Layouts work better on larger screens, including side-by-side Settings. Font choices now appear directly in the Font tab in Appearance, without opening an extra sheet. Month headings stay readable in narrow calendar columns. Deleting an event now takes you back to the event list. We’ve also improved layouts and interactions in the story and photo editors. Request a Feature in Settings opens the App Store review page for your ideas.

Stories get a new look. Choose a background for the back of a countdown: dots, grid, ruled lines, gingham, stars, clouds and more, or a photo of your own. The story editor shows your countdown's name as its title again, and you can rename it right there. A new Edit button sits at the top of the back, and “…” in the editor can delete a story; your countdown keeps its photo backdrop. An empty back now has a single + to write, add photos or record. Closing the editor is smoother, and Photo adjustments asks before discarding your changes.

Photo adjustments, redesigned: your photo fills the screen just as it will look. Drag across it for opacity, up and down for blur, and add grain, vignette or black and white. Tilt your phone and the backdrop drifts behind the words, on the countdown's own page too. Custom Backdrop now shows your widget on a piece of Home Screen. In stories, photos can sit one to a row at full size, and photos added together now arrive together. Shared countdowns now share their story too: everyone you invite can add words, photos and voice notes.

Custom Backdrop: under Appearance, a page just for your own photos. Add a new one, or pick one you saved before. Photos you add now stay there until you remove them, even ones you haven't used yet. Editing a countdown opens full screen, and the long-press menu in the list shows an icon for each action.

Eight new Christmas drawings for your countdowns. By day: Santa Kitty, a reindeer pup, a cocoa bear and a gingerbread house. By night: a sleigh ride past the moon, a snowy cabin, a skating penguin and a snow globe. You'll find them with the Pro backdrops.

Cartoon backdrops stand out more. On small and large widgets the drawing now fills the corner at full size, and the birthday kitten has been redrawn to match. A countdown in minutes or seconds now changes on time — on widgets, on the event page and in the list — and long numbers such as 130,528 minutes fit cleanly on a small widget.

Count in minutes or hours and see the whole number. A countdown set to hours or minutes now reads as one figure, such as 227,523 minutes to go, and turns into a ticking clock on its last day. Cartoon backdrops now blend cleanly into medium widgets, and the app's wording is simpler throughout.

Frame each photo exactly where it belongs. Custom photo backdrops now keep a separate crop for the event detail screen and for Small, Medium, and Large widgets. Switch between the four previews, drag or resize the crop, and see the real countdown layout before you save.

Make every photo backdrop feel just right. PHOTO CONTROLS Adjust the image opacity, add Gaussian blur, and place a backdrop behind the countdown text. Tap a custom photo to open the editor right away, and use Reset in the top-right corner whenever you want to return to the original look. A SMOOTHER EXPERIENCE Purchase buttons now animate more smoothly. We also simplified the first-time experience: after closing the purchase screen, you can go straight into the app and set up your widget without an extra welcome offer appearing.

Photos of your own are part of Countdown Pro, and nothing is kept unless you choose to keep it. Your first photo is on us. YOUR PHOTO, FREE ONCE Put one photo of your own behind a countdown without Countdown Pro — on the event and on its widget. In the editor, tap Backdrop, then Add photo. It stays for good; more photos come with Pro.

The Lock Screen card, redrawn on paper.
