UPDATES You can now buy Pro without an account. Signing in is optional and adds Pro on your other devices. Starting a new recording keeps the one that was open. It stays in your list as it was, and nothing is deleted. With Pro, record asks one question when a recording is open: START NEW RECORDING, or CONTINUE, ADD TO THE END. Tick Always do this to skip it next time, and change it in Settings under WHEN A RECORDING IS OPEN. Fixed: signing out during a recording could lose what was said after. D-REC now stops and saves the recording first. Fixed: after you signed out and back in, the recording you had open now comes back on the deck, with its words. Fixed: the iPhone microphone notice could keep coming back during a recording. It now shows only when the microphone changes. While you record, D-REC leaves the phone's audio settings alone and plays no key clicks. Buttons still give a tap you can feel. DELETE ALL RECORDINGS now sits under the recordings list. It asks first, you hold the button to confirm, and UNDO works for 8 seconds. If the phone's volume is all the way down when you press PLAY or turn the wheel, D-REC shows AUDIO MUTED. The wheel always turns, even with nothing recorded, with its clicks and a soft whir. PLAY on an empty deck says NOTHING RECORDED. Every button now sinks a little when you press it. On the dark colorways, popups sit on a raised surface with softer lines, and the background texture fades while a popup is open. Small print in Settings is larger, and the delete button is easier to tap.

REVIEW AFTER RECORDING When a recording stops, CHECK THESE FIRST lists the moments most worth a listen: clipped sound, low level, dropouts, and lines that read differently the second time. A tap plays each one from its line. Each summary point shows the line it comes from. A point that no line supports is marked, and saved files leave it out. MARK AGREED marks a decision in the summary as agreed. D-REC never marks one agreed by itself. After a recording stops, a short receipt says whether its sound is complete, kept on this device and transcribed. EDITING AND SEARCH In EDIT, TURN fixes where one speaker stops and the next starts: move words to the next or previous turn, split or merge lines, or tag overlapping voices. UNDO takes back the last fix. When a search finds no exact match, NEAR offers lines that sound or are spelled close to it. SAVING AND SHARING QUOTE saves one quote as a small file with its times and the recording's details, and with its own audio only if you ask. REDACT marks lines to leave out of the files you save. They read [REDACTED], their sound is silent in the audio file, and the recording on this device stays as it is. Resolve markers support 23.976, 29.97 drop frame and non-drop, and 59.94 fps, warn when a slate does not fit the rate, and can save an import check file. MUSIC MODE Music Mode adds four corner controls for effects, a backing track and a scratch on the beat. PRIVACY AND ACCOUNT Usage counts are on until you turn off OPTIONAL USAGE COUNTS in the gear panel under ABOUT. They count which features are used under a random install ID and never include recordings or transcripts. The ID is now fully random (it used to begin with the time D-REC was first opened), and turning the counts off forgets it. The privacy policy and terms are updated (October 18, 2026). For a plan bought on drec.live, a refund shows REFUNDED only after the payment service confirms it. When you come back to D-REC, the intro story is skipped. If the terms changed, only the terms step shows. FIXES On iPhone, the PAUSED BY iOS note shows only when a call or alert really stops the recording, and it clears once recording goes on. On iPhone, the search box's clear button is easier to tap.

RECORDING AND WAITING WORDS Record audio while transcription gets ready. The status shows when text is still waiting. That work stays with its own recording when you stop, open another recording or return after an interruption. READABLE CONTROLS Recording names, start times, search counts and engine status have more room on small screens. On small Transcribe screens, messages open below the header with separate actions and scrolling for long text. Crowded recording-limit and recovery views let you reach their text and controls. APP LANGUAGE Choose English, Japanese or Spanish in Settings for the controls and help. Your recordings and their transcript language stay as they are. PRO TOUR An optional Pro tour shows the features available on this device. Open it again from Settings. FINISH CONTROLS Film grain strength controls refresh as soon as grain is switched on or off.

RECORDING MEANS RECORDING On a first recording, D-REC says RECORDING only once sound is really being recorded. While it waits, it says what for: your permission, the microphone or the transcription. If a recording cannot start, D-REC never says it is recording, and it tells you why. ALSO SHARE shows what is free and what comes with Pro before you press, with COPY THE TEXT first. NEW asks about a recording you have not saved instead of showing Pro. Saving a recording never takes another recording's sound. A window opened from another one opens on top. The tour card stays where it is. A line that ends mid-sentence ends cleanly. The account card fades in place, and SEE PRO lines up its prices at every width.

THE ACTION BUTTON On an iPhone 15 Pro or later with iOS 18, set the Action Button to D-REC's Record control and one press starts a recording, with Pro. The Lock Screen shows the recording while it runs. CONTINUE A RECORDING With Pro, record onto the end of a recording you already made and keep it one recording. In Settings, choose whether D-REC asks each time, continues it, or starts a new one. PRO YEARLY Pro Yearly is $24.99 a year after 7 days free for new subscribers, beside Pro Monthly and Pro Forever. THE TOUR The tour is hands-on: every control it points to works while it is open, and SKIP TOUR is easy to find. SUPPORT Support works like a help desk: every note becomes a ticket you can keep writing on, and the app tells you when it is answered. ALSO A press on the Apple Watch always starts a new recording at once, and the recording that was open stays in your list. D-REC can now leave you a short note in the app, shown once, for example when Pro is a gift to you.

MESSAGES A message too long for its space now sets its type a little smaller to fit. If it still does not fit, it ends on its last whole line with an ellipsis, never on a line cut in half. VoiceOver now reads a message's explanation as well as its headline. RAIN In the RAIN colorway, the rain now stays faint around the arrows on the seek rail, as it already did around every word.

APPLE WATCH Your Apple Watch can now control D-REC on your iPad: record, play, stop, mark and move the tape, through your own iCloud, end-to-end encrypted. Switch on CONTROL FROM APPLE WATCH in the iPad's Settings. It stays off until you do, and audio, transcripts and recording names stay on the iPad. On the Watch, choose the iPhone or an iPad to control. The crown moves the tape, and on an iPad two keys jump 15 seconds back and forward.

PLAYBACK Lock your iPhone while a recording plays and it keeps playing. The lock screen shows the recording's name. With the screen off, cut sentences stay cut. If the sound does not start when you press play, D-REC stops and says so instead of playing silence. APPLE WATCH The Watch wears your whole colorway, live, and waits in it while it connects. KEYBOARD With a keyboard, Enter on a button in the intro does what that button says. ACCOUNT After you sign in, the account card shows every line and its DONE button. Signing out clears the email field. PRIVACY The privacy policy explains Apple's speech recognition note. D-REC asks iOS to recognize speech on the device only.

COLORWAYS The moving art on the reels of seven colorways (stars, ripples, embers and more) shows again while you record. Recording does less background work on those colorways.

SMOOTHER CONTROLS Switching between Playback and Transcribe finishes once, without a delayed second slide. The wheel updates during a drag without rebuilding the transcript on every movement. Visible transcripts stay on screen while the wheel moves. The wheel moves more smoothly while recording on iPhone. Controls remain available while the window changes size, including recording controls in Transcribe. Clock, recordings and gain menus fit inside small, landscape and resized screens. Menus close with a downward pull or an outside tap. Dismissing a confirmation cancels it. Changing a colorway while its menu opens no longer adds a second jump. Messages grow from one continuous recorder display and return to it. A press that starts inside a moving menu is not mistaken for an outside tap. On RAIN, the rain falls across the screen again while you record. TRANSCRIPT Adding a mark preserves the sentence you are reading and your selected line. Double-tap or double-click a transcript line to copy that line, with visible confirmation. The record symbol on the start-recording invitation now starts the recorder. STARTUP Opening cards use their colorway without an outlined perimeter. Explore use cases is a smaller underlined link. It becomes available after it appears. Tapping the introduction background or its supporting text advances the introduction. Reduced-motion settings keep these changes clear and stable. RECORDING A recording that fails to start no longer counts toward your free recordings or your recording total, and no after-recording tips appear for it. If a recording fails at the start, any audio it did capture stays with that recording and empty files are discarded. Delete and Undo work normally while the file finishes saving. If your iPhone cannot write more audio, the recording stops with a clear warning and keeps what was saved so far, marked as incomplete. On iPhone, if iOS closes the app's page during a long recording, the recording continues. When you return, D-REC shows it recording, and Stop saves it with its audio. The tip that follows your first recording now appears as intended. MUSIC After you pause and resume a song, the playlist moves on when it ends. Stop-after, the sleep timer and repeat keep working as set. APPLE WATCH Record and Stop on Apple Watch always act on the current recording, and the Watch shows whether words are being transcribed. Rewind and fast-forward holds on the Watch stay steady through reconnects and no longer interfere with the controls on your phone. ACCOUNT EMAILS Account emails use clearer dark formatting, with help, privacy and website links. Sign-in codes stay out of the email subject. Failed code delivery gives a clear retry message. APPLE PURCHASES Apple purchases and restores are checked before Pro is activated.

RECORDING AND TRANSCRIPTION Open an audio or video file with Pro to transcribe its sound on your device. See real progress, stop the read, or return to a saved file to continue a paused read. On supported computers, an imported file gets a second transcription pass when the larger engine is already ready. Your cuts and word corrections are preserved. Starting a recording takes priority over an imported file being transcribed. Live words can appear on the recorder's display while you record, with a switch in Settings. Engine setup shows its progress on the display. Clearer microphone and sound indicators explain when the app is ready, waiting, or recording audio without text. Phone engine downloads wait for Wi-Fi where the phone reports its connection, and pause when that connection is lost. The iPhone app uses its native speech engine. Speaker-label downloads on iPhone wait for Wi-Fi. YOUR RECORDINGS Return to a recording at the point where you left it, with the matching transcript line in view. An interrupted recording comes back on the deck with KEEP IT and DELETE. A recording already on the deck stays in place, with the recovered one waiting in the list. Recordings are separated by the account using this device. Signing out hides that account's recordings. A larger local library uses the device's recording database instead of squeezing the entire library into browser settings. A trash button beside LOAD deletes the recording on the deck, with UNDO for eight seconds. Switching recordings keeps the list open. Safer deletion and undo, clearer save and discard choices, and protection against accidentally leaving or replacing a recording. Markers give feedback as you pass them on the wheel. The take counter rolls, the improved transcript shows changed words, and a recording-hours meter remembers this device's use. The free recording limit warns before stopping and gives the last sentence a short chance to finish. Export choices explain what each file contains. A silent recording explains its audio and transcription state. MUSIC MODE Each mode keeps its own recording or song and playback position. Music mode returns to the song where you left it. The small display shows the song, artist, time remaining, and position in the playlist. Music mode follows your chosen colorway. The playlist reads song names, artists, albums and cover art from your local files. Play a song next, stop after a chosen song, or set a sleep timer. Improved playback continuity, working tone controls, clipping protection, and media controls on supported devices. On iPhone, choose available local songs from your Music library. Protected or cloud-only songs explain why they cannot be imported. Songs stay separate from your recordings and transcript exports. Recording a take pauses the music. THE APP The Windows and Mac apps open on the free tier, with Pro features available through your account. A new spoken welcome introduces the controls. Regular users get a shorter return, with a fuller introduction after a long absence when helpful. Messages appear from the control they describe. Smoother switches, sheets, counters and lists respond cleanly when you change direction, with reduced-motion support. MATRIX is now called RAIN. Its visual style stays, with rain in the idle wheel and across the recording screen. Controls rearrange as you resize the window. Panels move smoothly to their new positions, with compact MIX and TOOLS controls and reduced-motion support. Apple Watch seeking, connection recovery and transcript counts are improved. Letting go, leaving the app or losing contact releases the shuttle. Clearer plan prices, trial timing, subscription changes and colorway behavior when Pro ends. Send an optional feature wish from the app. Wishes go to support; recordings and transcripts remain on the device. Deleting an account also disconnects Sign in with Apple where applicable.

EXPORT A PART OF THIS TAKE. Pick a stretch by its words, like a highlighter, or on the take's own waveform, play it back, and export only that part. Music mode records in takes. Every stop adds a row to the playlist, and every row carries its own waveform. A new opening, every time you open D-REC: the mark, the name, the line burning in, then the deck rising underneath, and it sits clear of the status bar. The settings panel now names every count D-REC keeps, and one switch still turns them all off.
