Protect athletes with real-time WBGT monitoring, OSSAA-based heat guidance, lightning awareness, emergency tools, and timely safety alerts. HeatSafe Oklahoma helps schools, athletic programs, coaches, administrators, and safety personnel make informed decisions during extreme heat and severe weather. The app combines nearby weather observations to provide current Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) estimates and easy-to-understand activity guidance based on Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association heat-safety protocols. Key features include: • Current WBGT and heat-category monitoring • Clear activity, hydration, rest-break, and equipment guidance • Monitoring for multiple practice and event locations • Heat and lightning safety alerts • Audible lightning-alert capability • Emergency quick-reference instructions • One-touch access to emergency calling • Location details that can be shared with emergency dispatchers • Human observer reporting for thunder and visible lightning • Public site-status information for families and community members HeatSafe Oklahoma is designed to make important safety information easier to understand and act upon during practices, games, band activities, and other outdoor events. Weather conditions can change rapidly. HeatSafe Oklahoma is a decision-support tool and does not replace official weather warnings, onsite measurements, emergency services, medical advice, or the judgment of responsible school and public-safety officials. HeatSafe Oklahoma is independently operated and is not an official application of OSSAA, the National Weather Service, or any government agency.
