Adding a recipe from a photo is much more reliable: cookbook pages with wine, knives or the like are now read properly instead of guessed at. In Directions, Return starts the next numbered step. Menus open as a card, and the composer tucks away as you scroll down.

Tap a recipe, menu or dish to rename it right where it is; slide left to open it. Swiping a row is smoother too: the delete and open buttons grow in as you pull, stretch with your finger, and click when a full swipe will act.

Plan a menu from your own recipes: tap ⋯, Plan from my recipes, and say the kind of meal (Chinese food, a summer BBQ) to fill each section with recipes you have that go together. Menus and recipes now have undo and redo. Tap the dotted circle under a section to add a dish there from the composer, like Groceries. A dish you type saves without pressing Return. Tap a dish to rename it, and add its recipe any of six ways: write it, say it, paste a link, take a photo, pick photos or paste text.

Changing how many a recipe serves now rounds small amounts properly: 1/16 teaspoon doubled is ⅛, not ¼. Fractions like 1/16 show small, the way ½ and ¼ do. And a "Doubled ingredients" list saved under a recipe's directions is cleared away, since the servings control scales the ingredients for you.

Share a list and you share everything on it: your stores and brands go both ways, and matching ones merge into the one with the most detail. Type @ in Groceries to add a recipe or menu. Rename any list and put your lists in your own order. Shared lists stay in sync with no more items jumping aisles or coming back after you check them off. Recipes and menus shared to you read-only can be copied into your own.

Shared lists now update live. What someone else adds shows up in seconds, and lands in the right aisle instead of No category.

Groceries can hold more than one list now. Tap the title to switch lists, or start a new one for Costco or the party on Sunday. Each list has its own aisles, and you can share it or keep it to yourself. A list someone shares with you stays its own list, next to yours, and everything they add shows up for you. Shared lists show the faces of the people on them. New home-screen widgets: check things off a list, or keep a menu or recipe on your home screen.

Sharing your household and lists is more reliable. Say your whole list at once and every item lands in the right aisle. Nothing made up, nothing dropped. Snap a meal plan and each grocery is added once, not twice. Plus small fixes, like "2 red peppers" instead of "2 red pepper".

Bring your recipes in: share a note, a web page or a photo to Lists and it becomes a recipe. You can also import a whole folder from Notes. Recipes are grouped by kind of food, like Soup, Chicken and Pasta. Add where a recipe is from (a cookbook, a person, a website) and typing "Mom's chicken soup" on a menu picks the right one. While you type a dish, matching recipes appear to tap. Dishes with a recipe show in bold, and the recipe card lets you swap or unlink it. Ingredients now swipe like list items: swipe to delete, or open one to set its amount, how it's cut, and the brand to buy. Brands are remembered for next time. Smoother cards: one swipe opens them fully. Plus fixes for adding several groceries at once.

New: Menu. Plan a meal, add the dishes, and every menu is kept so you can look back at what you made. Recipes live in a gallery you can search and filter. Tags like Main, Chicken or Dessert are added for you. Take a photo of a recipe from a cookbook and it fills itself in - the ingredients, the amounts, and the steps. Add a whole menu to your grocery list in one tap. Also: sharing a list now works, and typing several items at once adds all of them.
