Long Story: Trips & Life

Trip itinerary & travel diary

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Most of our lives are poorly documented. We take thousands of photos, but a photo rarely holds the whole memory: who was there, what happened before, what made everyone laugh, what someone said. Long Story is different. Don't write your life story. Capture little pieces of it. We'll help you remember it. TALK, SNAP, OR TYPE Press the microphone and say what happened. Add a few photos. Type a line. Ten seconds is useful; thirty is better. The app keeps your original words and your voice. IT ORGANIZES ITSELF Every moment gets a title, a short summary, and the people and places in it. Days become chapters: "Morning at the mosque, lunch in the medina, Rick's Café in the evening." Chapters, collections, and your year recap build themselves as you go. TRIPS AND LIFE Trips hold the moments of a journey. Life holds everything else: dinner with friends, a great round of golf, a funny conversation, or simply a good day. There's no daily obligation and no streak to keep. TRAVEL TOGETHER Invite the people you travel with. Everyone adds their own moments. Our Trip shows what the group shared; My Trip is your complete story, including what you kept private. Moments are private unless you say otherwise. ASK YOUR MEMORIES "Where was that restaurant we loved in Casablanca?" "Show me photos with Mike." Answers come only from what you captured, with the moments behind them. RELIVE Collections of people, places, and themes. A written recap of your year. A printable book of any trip or year, with a foreword and your own words on every page. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No feed, no followers, no ads. Your memories stay yours. Voice is transcribed on your device. Sign-in is optional and is only for backup and sharing.

Events, and the people in them. - Events - a dinner party, a birthday, a wedding. Everything a trip does, minus the map and the packing. Invite the people who were there and everyone's photos land in one place. - A guestbook. Write a note to whoever the occasion is for, rather than a caption on a photo. At a wedding the words are what survive. - Occasions know what they are. A wedding opens on the guestbook; a birthday leads with the photos. - Hosting: remove someone who shouldn't be there, retire an invite code, take down a note. A closed event keeps its photos inside the guest list. - Comments. Say something under anyone's photo, and everyone in the group sees it. The photographer is told, and so is anyone already in that conversation - not the whole trip, every time. - Hearts others can see. Tap the heart and the photo says who liked it. - The description is yours to overrule. Rewrite what the app wrote about your own photo, or clear it out and it stays cleared. - Your calendar, both ways. Put a trip or an event in your calendar, and let Long Story read what's already there and offer to bring it in. Nothing is added unless you say so. - One flight, four tickets. Everyone on a shared booking keeps their own reference, and sees only theirs. - Notes are plural. Keep as many as a trip needs, each with its own heading, and the ones people wrote look different from the ones the app did. - A two-night stay shows on both nights, and every night after. - Every itinerary line says who can see it, on the line itself. - Share some photos or all of them, from any trip's photo grid. Fixed: - Photos and itinerary lines added by other people could arrive attached to nothing - on the phone, but in no trip, and no amount of refreshing brought them back. They arrive properly now, and anything already lost that way is repaired. - Events were never backed up. Every event made before this update lived on one phone only, and nothing said so. - Hearting someone else's photo quietly stopped that photo receiving any further updates.
