Answer one shared question a day with text, voice, a photo or a song, as each prompt allows. Take turns asking your own, and keep every exchange in Memories.
Tether is a private space for two. Every day it asks you and the person you're closest to the same question. Neither of you sees the other's answer until you've both replied, then your answers reveal together. Over time, those answers become a shared archive that only the two of you have.
There's no feed, no followers, and nothing to scroll. Tether is built to keep you close to someone real: a partner, a best friend, a sibling, a parent, someone far away.
A NEW QUESTION EVERY DAY
• More than 200 prompts, from quick everyday check-ins to more thoughtful questions.
• Prompts don't repeat in a bond until the library is used up, and similar ones are spaced apart.
• Answer with text, a voice note, a photo, or a song, depending on the prompt.
• Search for any song to answer with. Song answers play a preview and link to Apple Music.
• Once you've both answered, both replies are revealed at once.
ASK YOUR OWN QUESTION
• About every two and a half weeks, one of you writes the day's question instead of Tether, taking turns.
• You both answer it the same private way, and it's saved in Memories as "Asked by" whoever wrote it.
KEEP IT GOING
• Streaks count the days in a row you both answer. Pick your own streak emoji.
• Streak freezes cover a missed day, and you earn them back as you keep answering.
• An evening reminder if you haven't answered yet.
• React to your person's answer with an emoji, or send a gentle nudge when you've answered and they haven't.
• One skip a week: swap today's prompt for a new one before either of you answers.
• Milestones for time together (1 month, 6 months, 1 year) and for 25, 50, 75 and 100 prompts.
• Once your bond is a year old: a special prompt on your anniversary, and "On this day" reminders of what you shared on the same date in earlier years.
LOOK BACK
• Memories keeps every past prompt and both answers.
• Export your Memories as a file: your own answers, or a full archive with both of you when card sharing is on.
• After the reveal, turn the day's exchange into a share card. Either of you can turn off card sharing to keep your answers off the other's card.
ON YOUR HOME SCREEN
• A widget shows where each bond stands: your turn, waiting on them, ready to reveal, your turn to ask, or all caught up.
• With more than one bond, it rotates through them, starting with the one that needs you.
• Prompt text appears in notifications and the widget only if you turn on previews.
UP TO FOUR BONDS
• Keep up to four bonds at once, each with its own daily prompt.
• Give each bond a private nickname, and mute notifications per bond.
• Send a private invite link to your person. When they join, you're bonded.
• New here? Answer solo prompts while you wait for your person to join.
PRIVATE AND SAFE BY DESIGN
• Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email code. No phone number needed.
• Your answers are seen only by the person you're bonded with.
• No public profiles, no discovery, no ads, and we never sell your data.
• Report, block, and unbond are built into every bond. A question your person writes is checked for profanity and can be reported too.
• Uploaded photos are automatically screened for illegal content.
• Delete your account and your data anytime from Settings. If you used Sign in with Apple, deleting also removes Tether from your Apple ID.
• Light, dark, or match your phone.
