Totally changed my life and my hair! Amazing App!!!
Becscan
Before I had this app, I had NO idea that the “natural” products I was using for my post-surgery hair loss were actually 1) NOT natural at all and 2) making my hair loss MUCH WORSE!! I love that you can just scan the barcode of a product (or look it up by name) to find out if it’s healthy or not. My favorite feature is the ingredient analysis, though! It shows every ingredient in every product in their database (they’re still building up their database - they have 1.6 million products and counting!-but you can submit new products if they don’t already have the one(s) you want to check out ;) )and shows you exactly which ingredients are healthy, which are questionable, and which are dangerous (using their 0-10 rating system) AND, in an effort to educate people, it tells you the other names of each ingredient (ex. Water/aqua), why it’s in the product, why it’s good/questionable/dangerous, and their recommendations! I’m not getting paid for this review, I really just LOVE this app and think it’s AMAZING and LIFE-CHANGING! Bottom line: This app is INCREDIBLE and really focused on educating the public about what they’re using on their bodies- not on getting any kind of payout. From now on, I’m not going to use any beauty products if I haven’t checked them on Think Dirty, first!
Great App, Couple of Flaws

This is a great app and I love all the information on it! I use it all the time. I love the barcode scanner. I completely cleared out my bathroom of all the toxic beauty products I’ve been hanging on to for years. I also will go to Ulta and use the barcode scanner to scan products until I find a clean one. Two changes I would make. It drives me nuts that every time I open the app, there is a pop up asking me to sign up for notifications. I already pay for the app, why are you also trying to shove notifications down my throat outside the app with a pop up notification in the app? I try to limit all notifications on all apps across my phone and it is very annoying that I have to click out of a pop up EVERY time I open the app, even if I opened it one minute before to look something up! I finally denied notifications and now there is a separate pop up I need to click out of notifying me that I denied them. I don’t get it. I don’t know if this is something that can be changed per app or if it has more to do with phone settings, but turning autocorrect off on the search box would be nice. There are so many beauty companies with wacky names that are close to a normal word, so autocorrect takes over. For ease of use, it would be helpful for that to not happen, but not sure if that’s something the app makers can change.

BEWARE! Dirty sneaky, they got something they are hiding.

I have used the free and paid version of this app. Since 2013. I was pleased with the idea and function of this app, until… I went to look up help section because the barcode would not focus. The only option is to read their FAQ’s. Which is a nightmare since there is no question bar for you to ask. (Poor app development)You are also asked if the level of privacy you would like? I was prompt this question in google not in the app. And when I went to the app to ensure the correct setting was applied; there is no option. In addition to this privacy setting, they make it silver, gold, and Platinum. Guess what silver is the highest. No where in the world is silver deemed more valuable than gold or platinum . My point; if you don’t read and just click you have given them all access to 3 parties and selling of your info. Along with this, if you tap on to read privacy settings you are no longer given an option to select. Just shady way of doing business . I will not be renewing my subscription as they make it difficult to get help and can’t be trusted. Disappointing.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Think Dirty—we appreciate your feedback and are here to help clarify a few things. To make the most of our FAQ section, visit the Think Dirty Help Centre through the link at the bottom of our website. On mobile, tap the three lines at the top right to access the search bar if you want something specific. If you’d like to delete your account, it’s easy to do directly in the app. On iPhone, go to the Profile tab, tap Settings, then scroll down and select “Delete Account.” For Android, head to the Help Centre and search for “How to Delete an Account – Android” for full instructions. Once deleted, all your personal info—like your name, email, beauty quiz answers, phone number, or birthday (if provided)—is permanently removed from our system. Just to clarify, we don’t offer any privacy tiers. Our three plans—Premium, All Access, and Clean Beauty Boss—simply offer different app features. Your privacy settings remain the same across all plans, and we never sell your personal data to third parties. Thank you again for your support since 2013, and we hope you’ll consider giving Think Dirty another try. 💚
Could be good, but mostly meh

I went through all the products in my bathroom several weeks ago and out of maybe 20 products only 2 of them were in the app. I took the time to painstakingly enter all of the products that weren’t in the system in and not one of them has been actually added to my shelf. This doesn’t make much sense to me because for the most part all this app seems to do where items are in its DB is to just list out the ingredients which have pre-selected values and then average them together so ostensibly adding a product should be able to at least place the product in your shelf with a preliminary rating with the list of the ingredients you’ve added. If there were worries about a human validating what’s listed to make sure it’s accurate about listing everything or that the automated part read the scanned ingredients part correctly then there could be a disclaimer and the product could show only in the shelf of whoever scanned it until the double check has occurred to release it to be the searchable dB Additionally if the app didn’t want to do this then it ought to let you search the ingredients themselves so you could do the work yourself, as right now I get nothing whatsoever out of this app other than more frustration every time I try to look up yet W other product that isn’t in the dB (and it’s not even just the products I’ve bought from overseas it’s also stuff you can buy at Sephora) Kind of a bummer and definitely ruins the usefulness of this app as an in store educate myself before I make an impulse buy tool.
Spring cleaning – but for your app! Performance improvements and under-the-hood updates for a smoother scanning experience.
