I know there's a lot of negative reviews and I do agree with what some of them say such as the limitation of song choice and being forced to write a review, ha! And by the way, app isn't very much worth it if you don't purchase the whole shibang. Sorry for that spoiler. However, being a novice with little money, this is a gem. I can't afford $50 singing lessons, so I'm left to videos and apps. This has been the best app so far, I'm already improving in tone and breath. It really helps to sing to a song (I just use my library and deal with it) and listen back to the recording to hear what can be improved. Only advice is keep your mic as close to your mouth as you can while you sing so you get a good sound of yourself. Anyways, hope this helps someone and again this is good for someone who can't do the whole singing lesson a week with an instructor deal because $$$!

I don't know these developers personally, but I suspect some really well intentioned people initially designed this app - however, with all the competition and technical challenges, it didn't do so well. Then those well intentioned people probably sought help from a very greedy person operating on outdated business ethics and a dog-eat-dog mentality that revamped the software to include a bombardment of advertisements during what should be your dedicated practice time but now the app is loaded with temptations and distractions. This app is obviously geared towards squeezing every last dollar from those unlucky enough to give this app a try. For example, just about every time you switch between lessons, a five second commercial pops up trying to sell you a violent video game. I'm a veteran trying to ease my PTSD with signing and I have to watch a commercial depicting humans and artillery killing each other before I begin an exercise. What needs to happen is that the original team needs to part ways with whomever took them in this terrible direction. As a matter of decency, I will not name other signing apps that are wonderful, fair and reasonably priced - but they are out there. Hopefully, this development team will find someone to take them in the kind of humanistic direction that builds a loyal customer base during these morally sterile times. The time to stop playing on those who compulsively spend money on apps and start treating them like people, not ATMs.

I just downloaded this app and I'm checking out the things it can do. The first sections seems to be ok, until i got to the sing songs part... most of the songs are for members only and available in itunes. There are no more than 10 songs available without doing anything more than just installing the app from the list of songs you see when you chose the sing songs option (or something like that), then there's the "more songs" option at the bottom of the list. So, i clicked it and a message asking if i like the app popped up with options "yes, no, decide later"(or something like such)... so i chose decide later since i truly haven't decided yet. Picking this option led me back to the song list that shows the "more songs" option. So, i tried to pick a different, positive option. So... doing so lead me here... so, i really don't have enough knowledge on this app to give a full review since I seem to have to do this in order to go further in using the "more songs" option... so, i will get back to this later after i see where this takes me... lol... hmmnnn... (seriously?!? I feel like I actually gave a bit much thought on this than it deserves... but... hmmnn... maybe it helps somehow in improving the app in someway...)

Everyone obviously has a different range, and this app doesn’t do enough to accommodate that basic fact.You can adjust the range, but only between three settings, which is problematic. Each of the three range settings is almost two octaves apart so there’s a good chance a particular sone won’t work for you. The first song my kid tried was Joy to the World, and it was either too high or too low and he has a decent vocal range. The setting could be very very bass—like the guy singing the grinch song—or a reasonable alto, or very very soprano—like an English choirboy. But at his age, he can’t get up to super-soprano and can’t get a lot of the lower alto.This is especially a problem if the song itself has a wide pitch range where almost any singer would need a very fine tuned pitch. Most songs you’d want to learn have a wider range than Mary Had. little Lamb.And this is even a worse problem for the beginners this app is designed for. Some songs the pitch is fine, but if it’s not, you have a very small chance that one of the other range settings will work.And this is an entirely avoidable problem. They use midi-files which are designed to allow any pitch setting anyone would ever want. ONE MINOR ADJUSTMENT TO THE PROGRAM AND THIS WOULD WORK GREAT! Let the user adjust the tonic to whatever they want. A beginner programmer could do this in 15 minutes.
