Welcome to the official App for the world famous Iditarod® Trail Sled Dog Race.
The Last Great Race on Earth®
You can’t compare it to any other competitive event in the world! A race covering 1000 miles of the roughest, most beautiful terrain Mother Nature has to offer. She throws jagged mountain ranges, frozen river, dense forest, desolate tundra and miles of windswept coast at the mushers and their dog teams. Add to that temperatures far below zero, winds that can cause a complete loss of visibility, the hazards of overflow, long hours of darkness and treacherous climbs and side hills, and you have the Iditarod. A race extraordinaire, a race only possible in Alaska.
From Anchorage, in south central Alaska, to Nome on the western Bering Sea coast. It has been called the “Last Great Race on Earth®” and it has won worldwide acclaim and interest. It’s not just a sled dog race, it’s a race in which unique men and woman compete. Mushers enter from all walks of life. Fishermen, lawyers, doctors, miners, artists, natives, Canadians, Swiss, French and others. Men and women each with their own story, each with their own reasons for going the distance.
Hundreds of volunteers, men and women, students and village residents all help to organize and stage the event. They man headquarters at Wasilla, Anchorage, and Nome. They fly volunteers, veterinarians, dog food and supplies. They act as checkers, coordinators, and family supporters of each musher.

About the Iditarod Trail Committee:
The Iditarod Trail Committee works to promote and preserve the historic Iditarod Trail, most notably through the annual staging of a sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. The Iditarod Trail, now a National Historic Trail, had its beginnings as a mail and supply route, and later became a life saving highway for epidemic-stricken Nome. The Iditarod covers over 1,150 miles of terrain, and the Sled Dog Race has been called the "Last Great Race on Earth," winning worldwide acclaim and interest. The race pits man and animal against nature, against wild Alaska at her best and as each mile is covered, a tribute to Alaska's past is issued. The Iditarod is a tie to - a commemoration of - that colorful past.
The Iditarod needs an amazing and engaging app! The Race needs a new app developer. There is no way to log into your Insider account and the Live Feed has never once worked for me. Plus wouldn’t it be great to track the GPS thru the app? Yes I think so! I end up just using the Iditarod website all the time.
Was Good. Horrible Now
SsnowSnake
Very basic, rudimentary info on the Iditarod, and half of that doesn’t work right. I can’t believe they haven’t fixed this app after giving it a lobotomy last year. Since they didn’t pay attention to the poor reviews last year, I doubt my review will stir them to action, but I’ll try. The only thing in this app worth anything is the Standings. And even that’s broken. It gives me what place the mushers are in and the date they left/arrived at a checkpoint, but the time, and any other info if there is any, is cut off.Iditarod Live just gives me a pretty picture of some snow. I can see some News, but the text is cut off on the right, like the standings screen. Makes it a bit hard to understand, trying to figure out what the missing words are. Doesn’t support landscape view or sizing. I guess the videos work. If you like 10 second videos. Which every one I’ve looked at is. I don’t. I also prefer sound. Which is missing on all of them. It does have brief bios of all the mushers, but again the text is cut off on the right, as on all the other screens. And if I switch to another app and come back, it doesn’t return me to where I was, but takes me back to the home page. I have been an Iditarod Ultimate Insider for several years. There’s no log in for us, and I get nothing extra for my money. No way to follow mushers or get alerts. I may keep this POS on my phone to get current (I hope) standings, but suspect I’ll delete it and just go to the website for info. That’s got tons more info on it and at least it works. Don’t know why they bother keeping this around as is.
03/03 update don't load on IPhone
walleye hunter
This update removed the insider feature on iPhone 7 plus on os 10.2.1 app is junk and waste of $33 been a member since 2011 so disappointing I won't be able to follow the 2017 great race. Time for them to find a new app developer that knows how to support the app03/06 update No change the race has started and still no access to Insider feature. If you are experiencing the same issue post a review to get the message to them and their subpar app developers. The app could be so much more and the Iditarod major sponsors deserve more as this a world event
Quick Look at standings is all
Jserv87
The app is only good for a Quick Look at standings. If you pay $40-50 to see live video, extended video or GPS tracking, forget it. So you end up logging on online..Come on, at $40-50 per person and 100’s of people paying that, get a decent app!
