Ledger is now MET — Mileage, Expense & Time. Same app, same records, new name and icon on your Home screen. Nothing you have logged has changed and there is nothing to move. YOUR TRIPS, GROUPED THE WAY YOU WORK The trip list can now be grouped by vehicle, purpose, destination or project, and every heading carries that group's own distance and value. Run more than one vehicle and the per-car total is on screen, without exporting anything. MET remembers how you like it. TOLLS AND PARKING KEEP THEIR VEHICLE A vehicle cost can now name the car it belongs to, and Transactions will filter by it. If your log book came from MEL, the tolls and parking that were logged against each trip have had that vehicle put back. NARROW A REPORT TO ONE PROPERTY OR ONE CAR Reports filters by project and by vehicle, so "how did this property do" and "what is this car costing me" are a tap away. Every figure follows, including the chart, and an export says what it covers in its title and its filename — so one property's year cannot be mistaken for the whole year's. Trips filter by vehicle too, and every list says which order it is in rather than hiding it in a menu.

Lists scroll properly again. Transactions, Mileage and Hours could stop responding to a swipe once you had lifted your finger and touched the screen again — while the rest of the app carried on as normal, which made it a strange one to pin down. ROOM TO WORK ON IPAD AND MAC Lists and reports fill the window now instead of stopping at a fixed width, and they keep up through a rotation or a resize. Editing an entry opens a full page rather than a small card marooned in the middle of the screen. On Mac, opening an expense or an income entry could close Ledger — that is fixed. ONE PLACE FOR SAVE Logging time or a trip put Save in the top corner while an expense kept it at the bottom. Save is at the bottom in every editor now, with Cancel at the top left.

Apostrophes and accented letters read correctly in your spreadsheets. If a merchant or project name held a curly apostrophe, opening the exported CSV in Excel could show it as "’". Ledger now labels its spreadsheets as UTF-8, so Excel reads them the way they were written. Nothing in your records was ever wrong, and no total changed — only the way the file was being read. Export again to get clean copies of anything you saved earlier.

Fixed issue with exports automatically rounding the rate to 2 decimal places instead of 3.

Duplicate any entry. Press and hold an expense, a payment, your hours or a trip, choose Duplicate, and Ledger asks whether the copy belongs on today's date or on the date of the one you copied. It opens filled in, so you only change what is different.

If your log book came from MEL in kilometers, Ledger was converting your distances when it should not have been — every imported distance and odometer reading showed about 1.6× what you originally entered. That is fixed. Your figures now read exactly as MEL recorded them, and your totals were never affected. MILES OR KILOMETERS IS A LABEL Ledger no longer converts distances at all. The number you type is the number stored, and the unit is the word beside it, the way MEL always worked. Changing it never rewrites anything already recorded, and the app tells you so before you change it. A MANUAL, IN THE APP Settings › Help › How Ledger works covers the center button, the three ways to log a trip, keeping one odometer per vehicle, projects and categories, reports and exports, and exactly what the free version covers. Coming from MEL sits beside it: where your records went, what changed its name, and what works differently from the old app. ONE SETTING FOR WHERE YOU ARE Pick your country and Ledger sets both the currency and whether distances read in miles or kilometers. Either can still be set on its own, in Settings › Business › Name & region. YOUR MEL LOG BOOK IS STILL IMPORTABLE The original MEL database is kept inside Ledger and is never written to. If you ever want to start again from it, delete the ledger and use Import it again, in Settings › Help › Coming from MEL. Also fixed: the last rows of the Coming from MEL pages were hidden behind the tab bar.

MEL users asked for this one: your odometer readings pick up where they left off. End a trip at 24,463 and the next one starts there, the way MEL always did it. THE ODOMETER, THE WAY IT WAS • The last reading you entered fills in the start of your next trip • Ledger remembers that you log by odometer instead of asking every time • Trips record which vehicle you drove, and each vehicle keeps its own readings — so two cars never hand each other the wrong number YOUR VEHICLES ARE BACK Vehicle is a field of its own again. It fills in as you type, shows on every trip, and has its own column in the spreadsheet you send your accountant. If your log book came from MEL, the vehicle on every trip moves across by itself the first time you open this version — nothing for you to do. THE APP STOPS ASKING TWICE • Transactions and Reports keep the period and sort you chose, including after a restart • A new entry starts on the property, client or job you last filed to • Recording income remembers the type you used last time Thank you to everyone who wrote in about the odometer.
