I’ve been a member since 2015 and I love the app and all but it’s not the same how it was back then. Back then you had listeners who actually cares, they would check up on you and they would respect your feelings and they’ll help you understand your thoughts. But Today listeners they’re not the same: When you book a listener and trying to find someone to vent too. A lot of them don’t be online and when you do get a Listener. The listener barely responds or take FOREVER to respond. Also The listeners be acting as if they’re so much NOT interested into your conversation. Recently, I was venting to a listener and the listener was giving me this vibe as if they didn’t care or they wasn’t interested into the conversation. I felt offended because the listener came out nowhere and kept it short and simply and said “have you tried therapy”. That’s rude you don’t say that to someone. Especially if they’re underneath a lot of emotions and they’re venting to you about what’s going on in their life. If I was interested into seeking therapy I would have sign up for it. and I really did hurt in my feelings to where the point I block the listener. As I said at the beginning, I love the app it’s very comforting but I feel you guys need to do better with Volunteer listeners.❤️
Has Good Qualities And Bad

I am a listener on 7 Cups of Tea, but this app along with some of the listeners really need an improvement. First things first, I have an iPhone XS Max and this app does not support my phone. I’m sure it’s probably the same for people with the iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and iPhone X. When opening the app, it seems like it’ll work out fine, but then once you get logged in (or signed up), the top of the app gets cut off by the little dip of the screen where things like the front facing camera is at. Not only that, but the app just isn’t nice. It feels crowded and it’s slow with certain aspects of it such as going to the messages. On top of that, coming from a listener, I know there are so many bad listeners. There are so many people who seem like they just don’t care, they’re slow with responses and or never reply, and their grammar is also awful, which makes it feel like they don’t care enough to actually type properly. Some make you feel worse than you did when you first came too. That’s actually why I became a listener because when I first tried to find a listener, the person I got with, just, well sucked. For better lack of words. Some people come into the listener position and are great right off the bat, others need some extra help and if they don’t care about what they’re doing, they don’t need to be a listener at all. I love being a listener, even though it does bring challenges, but even I know that this website had flaws although in theory and sometimes it’s great.

I think that it should be stated that you can sign up & use 7 Cups on the Internet because I had no idea until I went there for the FAQ information. The app is good for messaging but to really get the most out of 7 Cups you need to use the computer. I think this is a great service. I have always wanted to help others like this & now I can but it is hard being a listener at first & figuring out the correct way to respond because you can’t just say “oh you need to leave that guy he isn’t any good for you if he is cheating & beating on you.” There is another app called Therapeer where you can actually give people advice like that & that app is easier to me because you can give them advice & speak to them in more of a conversation like a friend would do. Anyway, my advice is to get a mentor & have them practice mock conversations with you before you try to help someone by listening to them because you don’t want to get to your first conversation & struggle with what to say to them. Overall 7 Cups is amazing! If you don’t want to listen & just be a member that is cool too. There are forums for every topic & they have things to talk about every week & do weekly check-ins & stuff to promote everyone participating in the forums. Overall, I give 7 Cups 10 out of 5 Stars!

People are encouraging self harm in groups
No one important ✌️️
I downloaded this app because I have a lot wrong as far as mental illness, but being someone who struggled with self harm for years and having it took me years to stop when I entered a group chat to talk and maybe feel better just to see “just cut a little” “don’t let anyone see” as if self harming is healthy definitely made me feel much worse. I understand why people do it, I did it, but it’s still not healthy and if you’re trying to help people get better you either need to monitor the group discussions for things like this or do away with them and only have listeners, but as is it takes forever to get a listener, if you get a listener, and most disappear on you in the first few messages. This app has a lot of work to be done if you really intend on helping, because if i had stayed in that group and said how I’ve felt recently, I wouldn’t only feel worse but likely have intentions to do something harmful to my self because I would have been told “do it, its okay, it’ll make you feel better” by the others in the group. The only really useful aspects is that you can pay to have a therapist (which not everyone can afford making the app near useless to them if they really need help), the small but beneficial activities to fill your cup, and the bots which only listen but are very useful when all you need is to vent because it literally does practically nothing besides listen.
