This review may be more about the Calypso device than about the app, but the app’s useless without the device so…. I bought the Calypso to log wind while sailing a dinghy, so I can merge that data with gps tracks to analyze sailing performance.Over 2 years of use, I’ve obtained useable wind data only about 50% of the time. This is a 14.5 ft open boat, so the Calypso and my phone should always be able to stay connected, per the device specs.I wonder if it’s able to reconnect (after losing connection) if the phone is asleep? So maybe this is about the app…I don’t know what the problem is, but the connection is too unreliable for the Calypso to be of much use, and definitely not worth what it costs.

Bought this for my sailboat. From the moment I installed it on my mast I had nothing but bad performance, mainly having problem connecting and or disconnecting constantly. Thinking the distance to the top of the mast was to much (62’) for the Bluetooth transmission l brought it down to the top of my solar panels arch a mere 10’ away from my cockpit and still had similar issues. In other words this device is useless.
