I’ve kept up with the CoG and Hosted Games interactive novels for years, and this trilogy is my favorite by far. Just so you know, I never give five stars. Generally I’m a bit of a harsh critic of the novels they release, and I have absolutely no complaints. I only wish that the author would release more stories in the context of this world. (Life of a Wizard actually is. Which is enjoyable as well.) The replay value of the three novels is the best I’ve seen yet (I’ve played through it a million times), your choices ACTUALLY affect the story and have real consequences, and there isn’t a single moment in the story that I feel bored or as if I’m zoning out. Going through all of the different choices and options is fun and interesting, and choices you make right from this first novel affect the story in the third one - it’s crazy how intricate it is. In addition, the story isn’t predictable in the least, the characters are really well-developed, the world the writer created is unique, and it left me thinking about it for a solid week after I finished. The romance options are all well-written, which I will rarely say about any game (I honestly wish I could date Gill IRL), and the writing itself is excellent. Very few grammatical errors, and the author does a great job drawing in his readers. Not only is the story a joy to read, but it’s also a fun challenge as a game. It can be a bit difficult at times to get your stats high enough for certain things, but IMO it makes the game so much better when you can experiment with all the different stat combinations. Please buy this game. If you enjoy fantasy and adventure, you will love it.
IMPORTANT!! Reference legacy upgrade!

UPDATING this review. A much of people have complained about not being able to upgrade the game to unlock they legacy advantage. I haven’t been able to all day, always pops up with an error. But I found the solution!! You can not purchase the legacy bonus on the standalone version of this game. You have to go to the lost heir in the Hosted Games app. Purchasing the upgrade through that app works perfectly. Hope it helps! So. I play a disgusting amount of choose your own adventure / RPGs, I’ve tried nearly every one on the App Store barring the ones in phone messages format, just not a fan of those. And out of all of the ones I’ve played The Lost Heir is by far one of my favorites, if not THE favorite. I absolutely love the character development for my character and the companions, I love the wide variety of outcomes dependent on my decisions.I especially love all the alteration you can make so far as classes and even subclasses do. So when you beat the game you can make different choices, or make similar choices with a different class or sub class and it makes it all feel new again. If you want to play a beautifully thought out and immersive game that gets you to genuinely care for all of the characters involved, look no further! You found it in The Lost Heir. The only issue I am having right now in which I’d like to bring to the attention of the developers is that I am having difficulty purchasing the legacy upgrade. It claims it might be an issue connecting to the internet, but everything else is working fine and connected. Reinstalling the app currently to see if it fixes it.But in general a big thank you to the developers for making such an elating game! I am a huge fan! Please continue to make stories similar to this!
Overrated and short!

This is the first review I’ve ever written for a game out of my 9 years of gaming experience which emphasizes just how much this game disappointed me. This game is overrated. How did this game get a 4.8 rating? I’ve played 12 games by Hosted Games and the price to length ratio of this one is not worth it. I made it through the game in about 3 or 4 hours and I’m not the fastest reader. I’ve played through the game 3 times and I’ve been disappointed every time. I don’t know if I’m playing it wrong or something but bad things always happen and my character always loses in battle. Each time I played through I used a different class and went about things a different way correlating to my character’s class but I keep getting the same results. Also the stat system is terrible. You have to have very high stats in a certain area just to pass a simple check. I tried to be a spell sword in my first play through but learned that you can really only focus on one class. Also the reviews of the third game are bad meaning you won’t get a satisfying end to this series. If you’re looking for a game to get skip this one and get the “Samurai of Hyuga” series. That series is my favorite out of all the games I’ve played by “Hosted Games”.
Great story, amazing characters
Frank West!
As someone who loves interactive fiction from Hosted Games/Choice of Games, my expectations were quite high for this one. The Fall of Daria did not disappoint. The story was well thought out and quite heartbreaking at times. The attributes system was a bit odd for me to look at, as it was different from what I was used to (the main series I played was the Heroes Rise trilogy). I've tried on many occasions as the assassin to have high enough stats in certain areas to pass ALL of the stat flags, but it's quite hard to do. Still, awesome game, and it has a lot of replay value with different character relationships and specialist "classes". (Spoilers ahead.) Although a beautifully written story, I thought that the way the plot advanced was expected with its initial setup, especially what happens at the banquet and the imprisonment scene. My favorite part was the part where player and their companion drag themselves out of the prison and try to figure out what to do next. Our hero always has to be beaten down and battered before redemption and glory, of course! I hope to see more depth and twists and turns in the next stories! The characters were my favorite part of the story though. I adore the "childhood friends, reunited!" relationship, which in turn made me repeatedly romance Petra and keep her with me (I promise, I TRIED to choose the other childhood friend in a playthrough once, but I merely couldn't - my attachment to Petra was already too strong). I also love Karla, though I keep forgetting that not sending her to investigate means she sacrifices herself for the player (but what a noble sacrifice that she and your guardian - for me, Lady Emaline - fight through). Ah well, at least Theo and Jace are still alive! ...Right?Thanks again for the great story, and I eagerly await the next installment!
