I absolutely loved this app. I went on it everyday and I was so inspired to try new recipes but with this new update I hardly feel that anymore. I didn’t like the new look but over all it still worked great. But now every time I click on a video that is not a “plus” video it tells me it is a plus video and I should start paying for the app. I can’t watch any video on here anymore. Nor can I save more recipes than 50. Then once I cleared them out and tried to save new ones it won’t let me because it says I am out of saves when I don’t have anything saved anymore. Probably going to delete this app soon if this keeps up.

I have been a subscriber of Tastemade from the very beginning, although the content has gotten better the app has become more unstable with every update. With this new update I was logged out of my account, the appwould not accept my email address or password, so I had to create a new account. The search results are a hit or miss, putting in a term like “meatballs” brings up no results, but “chicken” will bring up results even if chicken or chicken stock isn’t an ingredient, this has been a constant issue. I have sense lost all recipes I have saved, which is about a years worth. They have also changed the app into this streaming service, so now instead of recipes there are half hour to one hour long episodes. Whoever made this decision was stupid because they are literally forgetting about what made tastemade so popular. I have no issue with paying its only1.99 a month (grandfathered price) but tasty is free, bon Appétit has better recipes, and content, and there are a host of other bloggers and websites out there as well. I’m done with Tastemade. Unless you have the grandfathered price don’t waste your time with this one.

When I first found Tastemade, I was in love with the recipes, chefs and format of the app. But like many others, I became increasingly disappointed in the amount of content that Tastemade labeled as premium or “plus” content over time. Videos that were once free to watch now have a stipulation of five videos or so before you are prompted to pay for Tastemade Plus which tbh is a complete waste of money. The recipes are great but they aren’t anything special and Tastemade isn’t the only app or website that offers recipes. I don’t see a need to pay for this app when apps like Tasty are free and offer a variety of recipes similar to if not better than those found on Tastemade. The constant push for users to pay for content is a complete turnoff and I’ve since deleted the app and just turn to other recipe sites and apps that don’t require a subscription for no particular reason. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Originally I just looked on Tastemade on snapchat and screenshotted recipes I liked, then I found out about this app and was so excited I didn’t have to wait for new recipes on Snapchat in order to browse tastemade’s options. However, after looking at only five recipes I can’t even look at anymore without paying to see new videos. Besides the fact that I could literally just look it up on safari, making paying pointless, the videos aren’t even necessary for me and it would be nice to just see the recipe regardless of if there were a video or not! But that isn’t an option. I hope it is understood that people will begin deleting the app or never installing it in the first place when they realize how frustrating and useless it is. Two stars only because the recipes are good but the app is terrible.
