Well, at least for me anyway. If you are a fan of ANY roguelite and the Hotline Miami series, then this is going to probably be your new favorite iOS game as well. This game is near perfect! My only setback is as one of the other reviewers stated, it will drain your full battery in less than an hour and make your phone overheat real bad IF you leave it on high display settings. THIS IS IMPORTANT! Anyone having either of these issues, go into the options menu>display settings>from here you can customize any of the settings, but I recommend to turn it onto LOW if you plan on playing this game for a long time like I do. This will cure ALL the overheating and battery drain issues, the only sacrifice with this that I have even noticed is a MARGINAL decrease in some of the real bright neon colors in the game. After 10 minutes of playing on this setting though, I didn't even notice it anymore, and have now been enjoying hours & hours of gameplay with no overheating and battery drain past normal battery consumption. And for the people that complained about not having a manual reload button, the tutorial tells you in the beginning you can turn the reload button on in the settings! I've had the reload button the whole time! After you turn the initial display settings down to low & turn the reload button on, this game plays amazing and I rarely ever rate games, especially rarely with a high rating and I can confidently say this is my game of the year! Btw, I am playing on an iPhone 6s Plus 128gb.

This top-down shooter is fun and well made. Gameplay gets harder as you finish each level - the levels repeat with more and tougher enemies each time. I'm a fan of the top-down genre so I'm a bit biased. This game will eat your battery for lunch so be prepared. The game offers a lower battery consumption option with the trade off of a few momentary slowdowns as other apps take control. I've experienced a few glitches such as my player getting stuck in a corner but that was only once. Loot tends to get stuck in beds so wait until they move away to shoot them. My one major complaint is the cut scenes and voice overs get very, very tedious after playing many levels. Please provide a switch to disable them!

Get Xenowerk, Space Marshals, Space Marshals 2, Halo Spartan Assault or Halo Spartan Strike instead. Like Neon Chrome, all five of those games are twin stick shooters, but all five of those games are vasty, vastly better in every way (fun, graphics, controls, setting, gameplay, enemy types, enemy variety, immersion, animations, solidity of combat, weapons, story (for Space Marshals 1 and 2)), presentation, and you can buy any three three of them for less than Neon Chrome costs all by itself. At 99 cents, Xenoworks is 10 times the game and ten times the fun Neon Chrome is, and it's 1/10th the cost. You can get both Halo games together for half the cost Neon Chrome is alone, and both are way, way better (the only thing the Halo games are missing is the ability to level up your character). I've played Xenowerk for hours and plan to play it more (it's a fantastic game that's an absolute steal for what they are charging); I've played Neon Chrome for about 30 minutes and had to force myself to keep playing after the first couple in the hope that it would get better (it didn't).Xenowerk, both Halo games and both Space Marshal games also support external controllers as well. All five games have great touchscreen controls that felt better to me than Neon Chrome, but all five are even better with an external controller. Neon Chrome should at least support MFI controllers.

I bought Neo Chrome, Space Marshall, and Xenowerk. So, let me compare these games. Generally they all have there own merits. They are all well polished, all have great graphics, all belong to top games league in App Store. But they all have some problems that make them not worth five stars.Neo Chrome and Xenowerk are both very repetitive after while, especially Xenowerk, every map is almost the same. Neo Chrome is little better, but not too much. For me, the biggest trouble is they both provide only few enemy types. There are only few robots and human in NC, and five or six type of aliens in XW. That is very disappointing. No matter how great the graphics are, how fancy those guns are, shooting same enemies again and again soon becomes very boring. Plus the random created but similar maps, make them even more boring.And in NC, the enemies’ AI is too low, most time it feels like you are shooting sitting ducks. XW’s enemies are much better. They are very aggressive. But still with only handful types, aggression couldn’t save the game.SM has, however, a clear storyline. It is less repetitive, less boring. But the trouble is the hero walks like 80-year-old man. The moment I saw that, I’ve already lost interest. It boasts strategies, but I fail to see any. It is just an old man tries to shoot other old men. In the end, I couldn’t finish any of these three games. But I’m not gonna say they are not worth the money. Only like most games in App Store, these games are still way behind those great PC games.
