Villages Navigation Greatly Improved.

If you have not already downloaded the latest version of the Villages app, for your iPhone, you are in for a pleasent surprise. The navigation part of the app had a complete makeover and works really well as compared to the previous version. As I understand it, thy are committed to continuously improving the navigation and looking for feedback. One suggestion provided was to enlarge the view when approaching a turn because it’s easy to miss it otherwise for people unfamiliar with the trail. Bravo for the update and keep it up. I am super pleased with the navigation update.

Good App With Some Issues

I use The Villages app often, mostly to search for homes as my wife and I plan to move to TV in April. I’m find this part of the app difficult to navigate and use. Firstly, if I am in the app for more than 15 minutes or so on my iPhone 10S, the app crashes. Probably an issue with caching memory. My other problem with the app is that it’s not as flexible as the website for filtering on properties. My biggest pet peeve refers to searching for homes by square footage. The app provides a drop-down that lets you select minimum square footage as either 0, 1000, 2000 or 3000. This is not at all useful as most people need more precise measures. The drop-down should let you choose in increments if 100 for more precision. Ironically, the website allows you to type in any number you want. The app should give you the same ability to search as the app. There are many other inconsistencies on the filter screen between the app and website as well. And both the app and the website should have many more filters. (Enclosed Lanai, Vinyl Sided vs Block and Stucco, Walk-In Pantry, Number of Walk-In Closets, etc).Another pet peeve relates to price reduction of houses. On the website, you can see if the house price has changed, and by how much. The app doesn’t provide this information. For the most part, I am satisfied with the other parts of the app. I’m focusing on the home search section because as a non-resident it’s the section I use most. I love the square cams, other videos, and the ability to listen live to WVLG. Despite the issues I’ve mentioned, I use the app every day and will continue to use it for years to come.

I love the improvements in this latest version (3.2). Improvements include a mute button so you don’t have to listen to the navigation voice, a zoomed in map so streets are easy to discern, and an easily read white banner across the top telling your next turn. Much easier to use than the old version. Plus the new navigation version has not told me to “go northwest” 10 times rapidly in a row or “make a U-turn” when I should not, like the old version used to do. As I said, this is a much improved version!

This app is so helpful! I can wake up each morning to click on all the activities for the day, the week and later in the month. It allows me to purchase tickets and get updates on event changes. I also like to look at the cam to see which town square has a great crowd of dancers to watch and enjoy. I also enjoy seeing the houses for sale, open houses and the prices. It’s just a great app!!
