Maid of Sker is a first-person survival horror, set in a remote hotel with a gory and macabre history from British folklore. Starting off, this is a review about a game. I’m not docking anything off because of the platform. I’ve played this game through computer previously, and enjoyed my time with it. If you enjoy games like resident evil, you might just like this. I’m playing on an iPhone 13 Pro, which is a little bit older, so some of the criticisms might be invalid on newer devices. On iPhone, the game has limited resources, and is especially apparent when you look at the texture size. Even on a small screen, it’s very apparent that the texture used are a bit chunky as I have a hard time reading some of the details even on max quality. I would assume this is because of low amounts of video memory, or to have the game take up a small amount of storage (still impressive in of itself) TLDR; play this game if you don't mind a little low resolution texture, it’s definitely worth it. Play with controller if possible. If you don’t like the textures, play this on computer if you are able.

For a game that has just been released, it behaves well in principle. The developers did their best. Just add sensitivity settings, increase the resolution a little and fix the hang problem (the game froze after the cut scene. I switched to the game and everything went well). And so the game went well, even on the iPhone SE 2020. Micro-freezes were only at the beginning of the gameplay, and then everything went great.

In this review I’m not gonna talk about the game itself. But I want to talk about how this port works and it’s not that great. The graphics much worse than on screenshots. Literally the second line of trees is just a pack of very low quality textures and not even a models and optimisation on the release is kinda meh. Like I’m not using something old I was testing it on m2 iPad Air. Also there is no sensitivity setting as same as all other control options. At this point game looks really raw and I’m waiting for a few patches in hope that it will look and work better. (And there is no controller support)
