Moneydance helps you take your finances mobile by making account balance updates and transaction entry portable. Moneydance is designed to enable quick and painless entry of receipts and transactions while you are out and about, with immediate syncing (via Dropbox) to Moneydance on your Mac or PC.
The desktop version of Moneydance is required to use this app, which can be downloaded for Mac, Windows, or Linux from moneydance.com
Moneydance uses strong AES encryption in addition to Dropbox's built-in encryption to ensure your finances are heavily protected while syncing.
- Minor bug fixes
- Added button in the settings to show the sync passphrase that is used for end-to-end encryption
- Now supports Dark Mode (following the system setting)
Ratings and Reviews
I paid for this program for my MacBook and have enjoyed using it. I downloaded the app for my iPad and find it insufficient compared to the desktop version. Like many others, I do not use Dropbox and like to back up to my iCloud account. Also, I like to be able to view my reminders and budget but this app does not allow that. It looks like in order to get the functionality that I need, I will have to change to Moneyspire or something similar. People want mobile access more now days. Please consider updating this app to include the syncing to iCloud and access to reminders and budget.
Does exactly what I want
I sought out this app to track my finances once Microsoft stopped supporting their ‘Money’ program. I use it as a check register where I enter transactions on the go on my phone and then sync that with my MacBook. Then I reconcile my account with my bank’s info. This is probably an ‘old school’ process but it’s what I do. HOWEVER, after just downloading an update when I open the app on my phone it automatically takes my to a description of how to link with Dropbox, which I am not using and I have lost all ability to enter transactions. I hope this gets fixed quickly. Long time happy user, now disappointed.
Developer Response ,
Is it possible that you had been using the wifi syncing to keep your data up-to-date between your computer and iPhone? If so, I'm sorry for having to remove that, but it was no longer tenable to sync via direct connections over wifi due to increasing restrictions on network connections and maintaining the security of that. You can use a free dropbox account to sync between as many devices as you like. We are working on iCloud syncing as well if you'd like to wait for that to be released?
Can’t sync to iCloud on iPad
I love this app on my laptop, and was willing to live with limited functionality on my iPad. When the latest update came through and allowed syncing to iCloud I was glad because I don’t use Dropbox for anything else and was glad to switch. However, I don’t see any way to allow iCloud syncing from the iPad version, so I’m deleting from my iPad. All I can see is Dropbox syncing. When iCloud syncing has been enabled for iPad I’ll probably reinstall it there.
