Flaky, but try waiting...
Sometimes it syncs, sometimes it doesn't. At least you think it doesn't. But if you watch the bottom of the MoneyDance Mac Window, it will eventually sync if you wait long enough (usually less than a minute). All you need to do is open MoneyDance on your Mac and then open the iPhone app. Then wait for the magic to happen. I usually wait until the stock quotes update before activating the phone app because it syncs so quickly, I don't want to miss it and wonder if it actually happened. To get the fifth star, I'd like my investment accounts to carry over into this app.
The desktop program is a great replacement for Quicken if you're moving from Windows to Mac. I acquired the app to be able to put receipts in on the fly and sync when I get home. The Mac software is 3 1/2 stars. It needs to be able to download transactions from other institutions - like Capital One VISA. If Quicken could do it, they should be able to do it. Also, the Mac app needs customizable investment screens like Quicken so I can view quotes, hi's and low's, dividend yield, annualized return, etc. all from one screen or in one report. And lastly, the Mac app needs to be available in the Mac App store if the developers want to sell more copies.
Best bill spreadsheet I have used
The $50 i paid for the app has saved me so much money! I was able to build a bill calendar on my PC app that gives me a month view of when bills are due and when paydays are. Me and my wife have the phone app and it makes doing the checkbook a breeze! We used to have 5 or 6 overdraft fees a month because we didnt do a checkbook. I havent had an overdraft fee in 3 years and am way ahead on my bills now. Thanks Moneydance, this app has saved me thousands of dollars in fees and I no longer stress out about my finances!
App crashes EVERYTIME after first entry, it just freezes after that.
I’m the past month I can’t enter but ONE transaction at a time then need to kill the app and restart it for the next transaction. If I don’t as soon as I try to enter another transaction the app locks up.
Also, it now always says syncing. I’ve never been able to switch from Dropbox to ICloud sync either. One would think they would just include a toggle for it in ICloud settings like other developers do.
Last, EVERYTIME I do a reconciliation it loves to move a random deposit to a payment category for no particular reason. It’s done this for a few years.
