Make the Most of Your Money with Banktivity

The key to reaching all your financial goals comes down to one simple idea:
Proactive Money Management.

Banktivity gives you everything you need to do just that and more! And all in a user-friendly environment that’s safe and secure. You’ll have immediate access to the tools, resources and U.S.-based support to make smarter financial decisions.

BANKTIVITY BRINGS IT ALL TOGETHER

The first step in better money management is getting all your finances and accounts into one place. Banktivity's Direct Access service makes this even easier by connecting to over 14,000 banks worldwide, automatically delivering the latest transaction data to your Mac.

Banktivity's set-up assistant will import your old data and download current transactions from your bank accounts online.

BANKTIVITY GIVES YOU THE BIG PICTURE

Banktivity gives you a holistic view of your finances — checking accounts, savings, credit cards, real estate, mortgages, investments and budgets. You’ll easily track, categorize, tag, reconcile and manage every transaction. (Including online bill pay!) Do it all yourself or let Banktivity’s transaction templates do the work for you.

It’s simple to update your accounts all at once with Banktivity's "Update Everything" button. Sync devices, fetch Direct Access data, security prices even currency exchange rates.

BUILD SAVINGS WITH BANKTIVITY BUDGETING

Banktivity's budgeting tools help you to set saving and proactive spending goals. By giving yourself available cash for specific purposes, Envelope Budgeting lets you assign money to different categories. And any money not spent can be carried carry over into your savings.

Banktivity automatically budgets scheduled transactions like paychecks and bills (categorized to your Envelope Budget). You’ll always know how well you’re tracking to your budget and savings with Banktivity’s visually-driven Budget vs. Actual reports.

BANKTIVITY SIMPLIFIES INVESTING

Banktivity's investment features manage stocks, bonds, mutual funds, IRAs, 401Ks, CDs and other assets. You can track buys, sells, splits, dividends, options and more. Banktivity calculates IRR, ROI and gains and losses. You can even pick which lots you've sold from.

Built-in report templates (Income & Expense, Net Worth, Payee Summary and more) dynamically analyze your finances. Assign tax codes to transactions to generate Tax reports (or export to TurboTax). Or view holdings in the Portfolio or Investment Summary reports —presented in comprehensive graphics that let you drill down for details, export or print.

BANKTIVITY’S WITH YOU ON THE GO

No matter where you are, you can enter transactions on the go with Banktivity for iPhone. And you can sync accounts, budgets and investments to Banktivity for iPhone/iPad for mobile money management.

Should you need help or have questions, we provide unlimited email support or Live Chat for quick solutions. Plus, Banktivity offers built-in Help files, a searchable Knowledge Base and video tutorials.

Very Good Except For One Nagging Issue

I have been using Banktivity for more than a decade now. For the most part, Banktivity has done a good job doing what I need it to do; help me manage my banking and investment accounts. One area, however, which has caused me to scratch my head over the years is an issue related to credit card accounts where credit card transactions that are downloaded are assigned the category, Withdrawal, instead of Charge. Debits against a credit card are charges, not withdrawals. Withdrawals are immediate, charges are not. Seems like this would be a simple fix. If an account is identified as a credit card account, then debits within these accounts should be categorized as a charge. Afterall, why have a category, Charge, if you're not going to use it for credit card transaction downloads? Why is the category Charge automatically assigned to manually entered transactions but not to downloads? Other than this overlooked nuisance on behalf of the Banktivity technical team, the software works well and I would recommend it to others.

Almost great but turns out to be painful and frustrating

I so want to love this app. I’ve used Banktivity since it was iBank 2 way back in 2006 on Mac. I really love the reports and the way this app deals with transfers (pretty much the only one that does it right). I also like IGG and like supporting smaller companies. The iPad version is great for viewing things at a glance, and now looking at reports, but it all falls down when it comes to editing.

The UX paradigm feels 20 years old (because it is), You click on the transaction in the registers get a panel, then have to click ‘edit’, then if you want to change the category you clothe existing ‘category’ and get presented with a list to choose from. You can’t type it, you have to find it by scrolling. You might not normally need to edit categories once your rules are set up, but I am on vacation and have 4 or 5 days worth to edit from new merchants and editing them all just makes me hate this software.

This exists in small parts on the Mac client too - especially editing or adding new categories in the category manager. In an age of search, this needs to be front and center. In-line editing on the iPad version would make it useable away from home for more than a quick glance and review. It also needs a payee manager here or on the Mac, a feature missing since 2006 - the reporting allows excellent Payee reports, but unless you can manage and tidy up payees they’re a bit wasted.

Ease of use makes Banktivity stand out

After decades of being abused by Intuit with Quicken for Mac lagging in just about every aspect of modern financial management, Banktivity is a joy to use daily. I've appreciated every update over many release cycles. The ability to drag-and-drop transactions to merge, drag-and-drop transactions between accounts, sort and manually reorder transactions, make bulk updates to change Payee, Category, or Tag, and so many other usability features really enhance the value of this app. IGG has worked tirelessly to add and maintain connections to hundreds of financial institutions through the Yodlee and Plaid platforms to make downloading transactions easy. The Reports modules are very flexible and simple to set up and change. I make extensive use of Scheduled Transactions to ensure I don't forget an upcoming payment (it's simple to change a Scheduled Payment without disturbing the series of payments, too). It's easy to manage financial app accounts, like PayPal, Venmo, and Apple Cash, along with mortgage, retirement, and investment accounts. And budgeting is easy as well. Lots to like here.
