Great

Great app for managing allergies. Would be great if you could write in your own allergies as well

Developer Response ,

Hello Sterlington,

At the moment you can type in other food allergens you might have. In future we hope to add other types of allergies.

Thank you for your comment and we hope you continue to enjoy using the app.

Best Wishes!
Team AllergyPal

Wrong course of action advised

We have been told by multiple specialists that when more than one system is involved it is considered anaphylaxis, but when ticking multiple symptoms in this app (facial swellling, vomiting, hives) the app advices that it is a mild-moderate reaction not severe. With these symptoms we have been advised to give adrenaline and this is the action that has been taken each time we presented to hospital. I think therefore the app is really dangerous because if someone caring for your child follows the actions shown in the app it could prove fatal.

Developer Response ,

Hi Ceèè,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this constructive feedback. Patient safety is absolutely paramount, and we take your concern seriously.

Whilst international guidelines have outlined different definitions of anaphylaxis, including the "two system" definition as you have pointed out, AllergyPal follows the steps as outlined by the Anaphylaxis Action Plan from the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA)  - see https://www.allergy.org.au/hp/anaphylaxis/ascia-action-plan-for-anaphylaxis.

Specifically, the ASCIA Anaphylaxis Action Plan recommends patients to use their adrenaline autoinjector if there is any involvement of the respiratory (difficulty/noisy breathing, swelling of the tongue/throat, wheezing/persistent cough, difficulty talking/hoarse voice) and/or cardiovascular system (persistent dizziness/collapse, or pale & floppy in young children).

If you have any further concerns, a member of our Scientific Advisory Board, composed of leading allergist/immunologists in Australia, along with representation from Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, would be very happy to speak with you. Please just send us an email hello@allergypal.com.au.  Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns.

Best wishes,
Team AllergyPal
