A truly amazing app that allows me to seamlessly pay my partner back and keep track of what has and has not been paid! This would be a 4 star review if there was an option to amend a requested amount owing, if say there was a disagreement on how much was owed. This option would be better then just declining the amount, as in the real would there are can be discussions and negotiations around how bills are split and who owes what. An amend amount option, once approved by the person requesting the money would be great!!! And I’m not a fan of the split bill option, you need to fix this up?It’s confusing...perhaps explain its function better.

A great start but flawed
Malta-music
Beem is great for collaboration spaces among roommates in terms of owing each other and limiting transactions. It works as intended and is simple to use! But it has a very obvious (to me) flaw that ruins the fun. My roommates and I have bills, groceries and everyday spending (misc) that we pay for. I pay for most of the items and put it up on Beem for my roommates to pay me back. However, we like to track individual groups of purchases, ie bills and groceries separately. We have separate bank accounts for groceries, bills and everyday spending. I would love to have separate card defaults for different groups. That way, we can group our bills, groceries, everyday things in different places and not have to move money over from account to account every time we get paid money via beem. The amount of times I’ve had money paid back for bills into my groceries account (what we primarily use Beem for which is why it is my default card) and I’ve *almost* not noticed and been short for bills is astronomical. Having different default cards for different groups, or saying “Person has paid you $X, what card do you want it on?” would resolve all of this and make the app a million times better. I love Beem because I don’t have to worry about the “you owe me X I owe you Y” stuff. But having added options to this for different thinking will only boost the app and make it more user friendly.

Hi there, thank you so much for the feedback on how we can make Beem work better for you (and your roomates!). If you have any more ideas or feedback we'd love to hear from you at support@beemit.com.au
App doesn’t quite do what it’s intended for
Recchh
The concept of the app if great, however it doesn’t quite fully fulfil its intended purpose. I have a number of groups set up in BeemIt for different things (friends, family, work friends etc). What I’ve found BeemIt to be lacking is the notifications to users whom have payments owing to others. Time after time, I’ve had to make that awkward message to remind others about payments outstanding. This includes when it’s been 3-4 weeks after the initial expense had been entered. I thought the app would do that itself, as intended, and as advertised so we don’t have to make the awkward contact. This doesn’t fault how the app works in calculating split expenses, and evening it across the group to minimise the number of transactions made. That’s all great and it saves us having to do the math ourselves. But still, the app is really lacking in this space and I believe a lot of users would benefit off an update in this area.

Hey there, thanks so much for your feedback about reminders when using Groups. We will pass on your comments to the rest of the team and hope to get rid of those awkward reminders in future! If you have any other thoughts please don't hesitate to reach out to us by emailing support@beem.com.au as we'd love to hear them.
Good potential but not quite there yet...

Great at processing payments, pretty bad at everything else. There’s no ability to add recurring expenses (like monthly bills), no ability to add upcoming expenses (stuff that’s due but hasn’t been paid yet), and no ability to recognise joint bank accounts (think partners that want to transfer $200 each into a joint account for groceries). Realistically real-time payments between banks are easy with Pay ID and Osko, so budget tracking and reporting should be the real value proposition here. There are far better apps on the market for managing expense splitting and budgeting across groups, report on expenses, and generally give a lot more flexibility. And there are far better apps to manage loyalty cards that support more card types and give less errors when adding custom card types.Overall I’m pretty disappointed. If the devs build out the features to be more aligned with competitor apps in these categories then Beam It would be a dream come true, but until then I don’t really see much value in having the app at all.
Developer Response
Hey there, thanks for passing on your feedback. We actually have both scheduled and recurring payments available as a feature in the Beem It app right now :) We do accept joint bank accounts, however each individual user would need a unique Debit Card to link to their account. We'll pass on your ideas to the team, please feel free to reach out in the Beem It app via Help > Contact Us with any questions or suggestions.
We've made some behind-the-scenes updates to keep the app running smoothly and securely.
