Life Changer

I was on Trulicity to control my blood sugar and I counted calories to lose weight. When the Trulicity went into short supply I was unable to obtain any. Up went my blood sugar, my appetite and my weight. Because I was reluctant to take medication my doctor suggested I try a low carb diet.
I found Defeat Diabetes and haven’t looked back. The recipes are delicious and easy to make, the regular videos are informative and the members of the Facebook group are friendly and helpful.
The app is very user friendly and I love that it’s available in a web based version. Defeat Diabetes is also very reasonably priced and great value for money.
I’m now medication free, my blood sugar is coming down, I’m losing weight and thanks to the awesome recipes I don’t even notice that I’m eating low carb. Hubby loves our new way of eating too.

Given me hope

My doctors wanted me to go on more medication as my BSL was too high despite loosing weight on my ‘diet’. I was told my condition was getting worse and I just need to accept this. I was fortunate to meet with a diabetic educator who introduced me to Defeat Diabetes (DD) web page and my life was transformed. My HBA1c has now reduced from 8.4 to 5.7 and I now feel in control of my life. Nicole Moore, DD Dietition has guided this transformation which has been supported by the excellent videos and information on the DD web page. I can not speak highly enough of the positive impact DD and the team have made on my life and I would and do recommend it to others.
You have given me hope again and a path to better health. Thank you Defeat Diabetes Team.

Not for me

Having given this program a trial, I’m not going to purchase it. I have no doubt the basic premise is correct; by switching to a low carbohydrate, high protein diet the factors leading to diabetes and obesity can be diminished and potentially type 2 diabetes can be placed in remission. It also has “lessons “ explaining the scientific research on which the program is based. However the app is poorly structured and bugs abound, like not updating progress. The recipe section, when I searched for vegetarian options gave me some definitely meat based meals, with “vegetarian” as one of the key words, so it’s sloppily edited. While the lessons were informative, I found it tedious wading through them trying to find guidance on what amount I should limit my carbohydrate intake to - something pretty fundamental I would have thought. It has no tracking capacity either to record what is eaten. I saw some rave reviews about the program, but it’s not for me.
