“Straightaway, the time and attendance headache disappeared. There’s no need to manually enter data from one system to another. It’s all uploaded effortlessly. And on our tablets or phones, we can sign off timesheets with a swipe."
"Everyone gets alerted to their shifts, which they can check on their smartphones. Everyone knows where they should be, when they should be there and what they should be doing."
"Deputy has been a revelation for our business. We’re saving approximately $30,000 a year in admin costs alone. But even more importantly, we’re now able to optimise all shifts and staffing levels."

Time entry on a smart phone, good idea. My feedback:Make the ‘Submit’ wording on the top right corner a button on the confirmation screen, attached to the bottom of the other stuff on the screen. Spread the button horizontally, the size of the screen. This will mean that submit is front and centre at the end of the scroll down and everything is confirmed, not a dark blue word on a black screen (yes, dark mode but would work on both) that is nowhere near where the users’ eyes are.Add a feature when the quantity of hours are known, or unknown and able to be set for an unscheduled shift. Say I have a 5 hour shift, have Deputy ask me at the end of the scheduled time if I’m finished my shift. If I say no, keep counting. If I am finished, stop at the time it asked, at the end of the scheduled time of completion, or in this example at 5:00 hours, or if I pick up my phone at the time I am done, lock in the current time. Otherwise, if I do not have my phone at the minute I finish, then it will be wrong.

I am reviewing from both perspectives as we installed Deputy into our restaurant of 30 staff. What great business efficiency, cost savings, rostering, time recording & payroll even better at LOW cost. BUT it does have one flaw (we have recorded this with Deputy) the system allows staff to manually adjust the break time so this corrupts the integrity of the time recording and can cost businesses money so big error with design. Other than that fabulous particularly as it interfaces so easily and reliably with Xero.Later after selling business I moved to a job that coincidentally used Deputy and loved it from a staff perspective. I would like to see them enable Unavailability edits eg deletions to be done on a phone (as can be created) rather than having to log on to a PC quiet inconvenient at times. As a previous admin systems specialist I strongly recommend this App BUT it still has room for improvement, but Deputy very responsive to ideas and helping with problems.
Feedback after a month with Deputy

The app is good but could really do with some updates, additional features and customisation.I use deputy for my company of NDIS providers (small team of 15).It would really be helpful if there was an area to write client progress notes (shift notes) that was set out better than the “News Feed” section. My staff don’t need to be notified every time someone posts their notes but they do need to be able to read what the previous staff members have written. They could write comments on the shift itself but there’s a character limit, it’s not as user friendly and it’s not compiled well enough for maintaining records (at least not without creating more work for admin, aka me) and the journals only the manager can see etc. I’ve looked at the integrated software options but it’s just additional steps and accounts my staff would need to make which would cause frustration. It’d be better if it was all accessible from Deputy itself. I also don’t love that when an open shift is claimed the shift itself moves down until the other shifts are claimed. This has caused some confusion with staff claiming the wrong shifts. I understand that’s more their fault for not reading the times correctly but it would make it a whole lot easier if the shifts stayed in the same time block order regardless of if it’s open or claimed, but still remained highlighted “Open” (I hope that makes sense).Another comment is that in all honesty, while the app is (mostly) easy to understand it’s boring to look at. It would be nice if there was better customisation. For example creating different colour selections for shift times within locations once claimed by staff (example 7am-12pm yellow, 12pm-7pm pink, 7pm-10pm blue, shifts unclaimed completely red etc). Or colour coding staff and their claimed shifts.Anyway, I hope this helps. Thanks for reading my ramble.
favours employers way too much
People good luck
Was blocked from turning off my app whenever we left the premise and had to text the boss whenever we left it on for too long even though they should trust that we know we’ve left it on for too long. They were basically counting minutes with us. If the app has a tracker system let the employees be able to see when they leave the store. The features of the app allowed my higher ups to exploit it and minimise or remove our over time and overturn under pay us.It gives too much power to the employer and even blocks us from editing it and so it’s up to us to turn it on accordingly or else. My app was basically useless as I wasn’t able even see the weekly time sheet as they blocked us from seeing each others hours, not too mention the forced breaks & deletion of timesheets overtime. There should be a summary page for employees to track the amount of hours they’ve worked & even categories them. It just facilities shady business practices & over controlling “ bosses” abusing their power.
