Strange method of fetching data

It seems as though the UX for this app hasn’t been considered during its development. The way it fetches data is inconvenient and doesn’t make sense for what app users intend on using the app for.

When the app fetches data by day, it fetches from the last time you opened the app to the current time. This is quite annoying when all I want to do is view the data from today, the actual day I open the app, as I have to wait for a months worth of data to download before I am presented with relevant data.

Please consider UX and fetch from the current day and then backwards from there, or fetch the current day and then continue from the earliest day forwards (like the current method) so that users can actually visualise the data from the current day as soon as possible.

This app does naughty things

It wants to sit in the background to occasionally connect to the monitor so it can update, and sooks at you when it can’t because you’ve blocked it, or haven’t launched it in long enough for it to maintain such a privilege. I’m sure whoever wrote this feature is very proud of themselves, as it is quite clever, however I absolutely do not want something like that running on my phone.
Update: Thankfully, as the developer mentioned, there is a setting available which allows you to turn this feature off, however, I could not find it after looking at three different settings screens in different places in the app.
As the developer told me, I needed to keep looking, because there was another, fourth settings screen which allowed me to disable this.
The option was not in the apps global settings, the property settings, or the settings for the energy meter I wished to disable automatic syncing on, but instead was in account settings.

Simply open your app, click 'My Account' in the bottom right corner, click 'My Electricity Advisor' and turn Auto Sync to off. Login & other stuff

From what I can tell the app says my usage is way way less than what my energy bills are. I have picked up on elements of the app from other customer reviews, that has been helpful. From the tips etc given I can't cut back anymore unless I turn off my fridge, not a good idea.
One of the developer replies says the monitor should be on the outside of the electricity meterbox. Why then do the installers put it inside the metal box? Do they not know???
I too find it eats battery when Bluetooth is continuously connected on my ipad, perhaps the issue is Apple products, but too many people have made this complaint.

And what gives, now today (12/3) I have been forced to update and the only way to access my data is to login. I didn't have to before. And I don't want yet another password

Hi,
We provide Accredited Provider companies with comprehensive training to install the Electricity Advisor responsibly. However, we do not have control over the installers used by these companies. We strongly encourage them to install the device on the outside of the meter box to maximise the Bluetooth range.
We have conducted a significant amount of testing in regards to battery lifespan and have found nothing to make us believe that the emerald EMS app will drastically impact battery life.
