New version UI is damaging core function
The old app was full but functional. The new version looks slick, but the design hides the key features people want to access - primarily orders.
Ideally there should be a shortcut button at the bottom menu - currently it just tells you there are no open orders - even a link there to “place an order” would be good.
The real problem is the tile layout. The homepage has a single tile showing, with the left hand edge of another tile to the right. From a UI design perspective you are telling the user to scroll across to the right - the only visual cue is the part tile to the right.
Out of desperation trying to find how to order, I accidentally swiped down, and there are actually multiple rows of tile by function. Three sets down is the one to order food. There is no indication to scroll down at all, so many will not find the primary function of the app.
From a UX perspective, I often use this app when running out of the door to work, and need to place an order for kids food as quickly as possible. Burying the order option makes my life hard and shows that the business proposition of some sort of portal to partner offers has been prioritised over the core user need. We are locked in to the app, so there is little we can do, but this does not make me want to spend time in this app or use it for anything else.

Simplify life for busy parents??? Don’t think so
Whoever had the grand plan of adding so much useless clutter to your app has no idea. It was simplified before, now it is just a whole heap of scrolling to try to find the order button! Which, by the looks, I have done incorrectly as I hit the first order button I came across, not realising it was for recess, not lunch.
If you want to simplify life for busy parents, make the ordering process simple - like it used to be! I don’t come to your app to read all the other info you have now filled it with, and would think that other parents are like me. We just want to order food and do it quickly and easily. Get rid of the rest! No need to make it look pretty with all of the added frills that have just made the whole thing cluttered and no longer user friendly. At the very least add an order button to all of the other useless tabs you have at the bottom of the screen.
New version is hopeless. Don’t bother. Zero stars.
The old version was clunky but usable. The new version is all but impossible to use. It’s so frustrating as it is not easy to make an order (so you give up) and the main feature of the new app is advertising! I cannot order as the stupid thing keeps telling me I need to update details, which I have done. So since the update, I have not been able to order lunches or uniforms. Not that I think Flexischools cares about that, but maybe they care that they are losing out of their little fees I would otherwise have been paying... and why we still have to pay when there is so much advertising is beyond me. Annoying as I have money in Flexischools account that I am unable to use now. Contacted support, no response after a week. Hopeless.
Schools, do not bother with this app! Surely there is a better one out there somewhere.
